No official offers have been made to Philly yet for Kai Wagner.

Marsch has spoken with Curtin about Wagner and other players.

And I guess Sean Johnson. Though if I were him I’d have gone to Cincinnati instead.

Leeds United monitoring Brandon Vazquez (earlier in the thread Kai Wagner is also mentioned but he's not relevant here)...

    1. Vazquez
    3. Ebobisse
    5. Ferreira

that's it that is all the American forwards on the list

    Player - npxG / npG
    Brandon Vazquez - 12.54 / 15
    Hany Mukhtar - 11.13 / 10
    Jeremy Ebobisse - 10.99 / 13
    Sebastian Driussi - 10.2 / 15
    Jesus Ferreira - 9.85 / 14
    Taty Castellanos - 9.77 / 8
    Cristian Arango - 9.51 / 11
    Brenner - 9.24 / 9
    Chicharito - 9.17 / 8
    Gyasi Zardes - 8.8 / 5

For all the talk of our finishing concerns, Ferreira, Vazquez and Ebobisse are actually all above their npxG, which is interesting. I know that's not a complete picture of finishing, but it's still noteworthy. I think it might be driven by the number of transition goals.

Long term option because of work permit stuff. If not for that I wouldnt blink if Jesse made a move for him immediately

In the time of "in case of emergency break glass" forward signings, maybe Leeds take a look at Zardes? I mean Id bring Zardes as forward number two as insurance for my primary target. Leeds frankly should be in for two forwards.

I mean forest just bought Neal Maupay......their SIXTEENTH signing of the summer for 125 million pounds in total. Here I thought Leeds was splashing cash. That one-ups Aston Villa's 15 player signing spree from a few years back when they stayed up on a VAR oopsie

No, long term because while I like Vazquez, he's not going to step in and suddenly be a contributor at a premier league level right away. Every point counts for Leeds at this point, and striker is a more difficult position to bring something to the table than a lot of other.

There's plenty of better options across the whole world. If you just need a guy who can run all day and will make runs, I'm sure there's someone already available to Leeds.

Read the article, it explains what it is.

Might be good for the repeated minor contacts like heading the ball. But may not be enough to prevent concussion from stronger forces.

If it helps(I would need to see a lot more data to be convinced) prevent damage to the brain from the repeated minor contacts that we are becoming more concerned with, then great. More people should be wearing them.

Any thoughts on RSL's LB, Brody? I haven't watched him this year, but he's been popping up on the algorithms.

I think he is an above average MLS-level LB... which is not a bad thing. But if a player doesn't project to the USMNT then I tend to not care all that much. At 27, Brody is in his prime... but probably took a bit too long to get to this level as a pro. He and his counterpart Herrera are just a step or two below NT backup standards IMO.

Where I can I find the percent of MLS minutes played by US-eligible players? Any ideas on that? I am sure it has been declining steadily, and I found something tat said it was about 40% (US-born, not necessarily eligible) in 2018, but that's all I could find.

So great that we have three Americans near the top so deep into the season

    here
That is great. Ebobisse needs to be in the Sept call up discussion. And, he needs to get out of SJ. If teams are sniffing around BV, maybe someone will give Ebobisse a look.

I like what I'm seeing from Ebobisse too and I wish he'd get a chance, but it feels like there's only room for one new striker in September and it's got to be Vazquez.

Ya, I'm excited about BV. But, dang, Ebo has one goal less .... at San Jose. The guy should be getting consideration, too.

I get it, though there are probably more players who deserve a look than we'll have roster spots for the September camp. Ebobisse is probably competing with Pefok and Pepi for the 3rd striker spot.

Wait, Ferreira and, who's the other guy? And, don't forget Wright.

    Ferreira and Vazquez.

And Wright is definitely out there too though I think lower down the pecking order. There will be more guys who deserve a call up than we'll have spots.

Pefok is the other guy. Playing in the most difficult league of any of our strikers and has two goals in his 1st 3 games (all comps). He would be my 3rd selection right now... but if GB wanted to give Ebo a shot because Pefok's had his then I'd be ok with it.

    https://fbref.com/en/comps/22/nations/Major-League-Soccer-Nationalities

It's 35% this season based on how fbref classifies Nationality.

    Last year it was 36%.

Using the same site, in 2018 it was 38%

I think even JeBo said in an interview a few weeks ago that hes under the impression Gregg's got his horses and hes just not in the picture.

I hope he presses hard for next season though because hes been possibly the only bright spot for san jose. Man........Id be big pissed at portland for playing me out wide if I was him. Dude's obviously a forward, through and through. 14 goals for a bottom 3 MLS side (and in my opinion, bottom-bottom MLS side) is dang impressive.

Perhaps whoever next cycle's coach is will get some better use out of him

Yeah, I've always been lukewarm on Savarese as coach for the Timbers. He'll give a chance to some homegrown or US American player, and then decide he needs a South American that's not tip top instead. And it's been very much hit or miss. Ebobisse has done very well at SJ, and I always held him in high regard personally. Perhaps next cycle he'll continue to perform well and get his due.
