Leeds IMO still need another defender and another striker. It looks like they are about to sign Arnaud Kalimuendo which should help the striker part and there are rumors they are going after Phillip Max for LB. If they get both of those and with Luis Sinisterra in the wings that should help significantly.

I will continue to maintain that some (not all) of Tyler's struggles were overblown but cannot doubt his rep took a bit of a hit. I do think with Leeds you will see him rebuild his rep as he will be allowed to run a lot more

"Arbitrary" may be the word you are looking for. But it isn't "subjective."

The reddit boards are full of NPCs that get flooded with lots of annoying Yanks fans who appear born in the 2000s...but the old school independent boards are usually pretty good.

I like Tyler’s aggression and physicality on the ball, and his speed for a DM. I think his positioning movement isn’t as efficient as it could be in that he sometimes gets caught too far forward — at least that’s how it looked last week. But I expect a successful season for him irrespective of what English fans and press say. There is always an anti-US bias there.

Seems the next post corroborated your hunch saying
Only Martin Ødegaard (12.52km) covered more distance in the opening round of Premier League matches than Tyler Adams (12.14km

Adams likes to think he can be a holding midfield and a pressing midfielder at the same time. It's possible with the right partners. 3cb's is another way of compensating. I'm sure Marsch has a plan. I guess we'll just have to bide our time and see how he fares over time in EPL.

All the praise and eyeballs are to Aaronson, but how did Adams do on his debut? Playing in two of the top 4 European leagues by age 23 is a pretty neat factoid.

He did get caught forward but it is difficult to tell if he's following Jessie's instructions there or being too aggressive. It will be interesting to see how he and Leeds adjust.

Erm, no. I don't think a single Leeds fan has any concerns about Roca. I think most acknowledge both Roca and Aaronson look like bargains at this stage based on all the pre-season games and the first match. With the most hyped summer signing (Sinisterra) still out injured.

I think Adams had a really solid game, comparable stats wise to an OK game from Kalvin Phillips in terms of pressing and tackles, his win %'s weren't great in those stats, but he was buzzing around. He didn't get on the ball much in comparison to Phillips, but he worked well in combination with Roca who is much better on the ball.

Roca tired in the second half, but he was part of the reason Leeds dominated that first half. His quality is obvious, almost all of his passing were progressive passes that sliced Wolves open through the middle. Wand of a left foot.

I can see Roca breaking into the Spanish side at Leeds with consistent game time. He reminds me quite a bit of Xabi Alonso. He was already been talked about as Basquets heir for Spain whilst at Espanyol before his move to Bayern.

As for Aaronson, he's adjusted into Marsch's system effortlessly. Big future given his age and he's going to get a lot of hype at a club like Leeds.

That tracking back at the 1:00 and 1:40 mark is pretty special.

I’m biased because I’m a huge RBNY fan from Jersey, but kid is a beast. He shows up every match. Leeds’ fans should be stoked to have him!

Adams had a great first half, but made some bad mistakes on the second. For the first Saints goal, the action started when he lost his man. For the second, the assist came from his guy who turned him over, and the guy who scored just ran past an exhausted Harrison.

In the first he was everywhere cutting passes and starting the movement forward, something he doesn't do often.

I really hope they stay up because it really looks like Adams belongs at this level and he could be a huge part of their success. He's been really solid defensively and has made lots of simple, clever plays. He could in many ways have a breakout type of season if he can keep it up.

Man - I would never have guessed Martin Odegaard would be the guy he’d be behind.

I agree except Tyler still played well up to those two instances. Around that time he should have been substituted, but I think Marsch favors him. It reminds me of Bob Bradley never substituting Michael. At Leipzig Jesse gave Tyler a lot of chances but when Tedesco took-over he lost his place. Still I thought Tedesco screwed-up in the second Rangers game when he waited too long to sub, and left some good players on the bench, one of them Tyler.

I thought Christiansen missed the mark on the first goal. Adams pressed the man with the ball. Christiansen came up to help but should have seen the runner attacking his space. The second, he gave up the ball a bit too easily which turned into an easy goal.

Forgot how good he was in this game. And that play at 1:45 was sublime.

Went from a bit over-hyped to underrated around these parts. Quite a few negative posts about him "failing" at the tail end of his stay at RBL... but he was playing well when he fell out of favor... not sure why the coach didn't value him enough? But now he is playing a key role for an EPL Team... that is success in my eyes.... and I think there is still room for growth offensively. We have seen it to start the season. Several very good thru passes after a recovery. I don't think he will ever be the most creative passer but I have seen signs that he can become above average at the position. And when you pair that with his destroyer attributes you are left w/ a valuable CDM.
