Here we go... Asprilla in the house! 🏠🇨🇴#WatfordFC pic.twitter.com/Hypm0cUxfX— Watford Football Club (@WatfordFC) July 7, 2022
I've got high hopes for the kid. Have to admit that his last 6 months were a big drop off from his first. 5 gols vs 1. Lot of critiques for playing selfishly. As with many other prospects, the possibility of him disappearing is very real. I kind of hope Watford send him to the 2nd division for a bit. Give him a fair shake, but make him earn it first.
He is gonna get his tush kicked in the Championship if he plays selfishly or irresponsibly. It's a fine spot for him to learn discipline and find his feet. Just wish he'd gone to Dortmund or Porto but hoping he develops!
To be honest the club is in a bit of turmoil at the moment. Players who don't want to be here like Sarr and Dennis and some others having a poor attitude. That's what the manager want's to change. It's clear he is going to support him all the way and try and improve him. What bothers me if like some other kids he gets in with the wrong crowd who are a bad influence. Not enough of those have been removed. And to be honest the manager is not being supported by the idiot owner and chairman really. A poor run of results and he will be removed. I hope Elton John is true to his word and gets stuck in with the club now he is retiring from touring soon. And I hope sadly with Cucho gone that Pedro (lets hope he stays around) takes him under his wing. Pedro despite his age is a model professional something Yaser can learn from and look up too and also not be as selfish with the ball. To be honest most young players are like that. Those that learn to pick their head up sooner and when to go solo will fare better than those that do not who might produce the little bit of magic and then fade away for long stretches in a season. Someone we already have at the club like Quina. I have high hopes for the kid but he will need to work hard and harder. Not to mention fill out. The Championship is a lot tougher and physical than the PL with referees who are more lenient. There are also more cloggers in it quite happy to take out a skilled player.
Yeah not an amazing atmosphere for a young player if the 'stars' don't want to be there and have a poor attitude.
Goal for Asprilla! The Colombian links up with Manaj to score our fourth. [4-1 | 90']#WatfordFC | #WFCPreSeason pic.twitter.com/INOt8t4pu8— Watford Football Club (@WatfordFC) July 16, 2022

Watford's new signing Yaser Asprilla believes he will be better than his namesake Faustino after being discovered by Envigado. But what makes him special?@AdamLeventhal & @FelipeCar speak to those who know him to explain.— The Athletic | Football (@TheAthleticFC) July 17, 2022
Apparently Yaser has some hops... Yáser Asprilla rising above two Southampton players to put Dennis with a chance on goal was very enjoyable. The leap! pic.twitter.com/Pkp0xev0J6— luke (@louorns) July 23, 2022
I agree about what you said earlier: The Championship is a tougher league than the Premier League and much more physical. First, Asprilla must gain weight and muscles, and second, he must be less selfish, otherwise, he would get tackled harshly. I have hopes, but I would rather see him first. I got burnt with Marlos Moreno when I thought he would be the best next thing. I hope Asprilla will work hard and won't give up if things won't go perfectly. Maybe it's better to be a contender in the Championship in a team that will attack than if they would play in the EPL and would play in a much defensive approach

Unfortunately right after he came on we had a player sent off. So instead of playing forward Asprilla played in a midfield as a defender. Conceded a free kick and yellow card. He's a lot stronger than he looks. Tried a flick down the line and was ordering defenders behind him so he does not lack confidence. I'm sure Edwards will bleed him slowly into the side with more and more minutes especially as the coming fixtures are against 'weaker' sides. I hope he, Pedro and Louza when he is fit strike up a good relationship. They all have real flair.
He didn't do bad. You can tell he's not used to Championship pressing, thus a lot of his one-touch passes in the final 3rd were just not making it through. But he frequently twisted away from pressure and kept up with the pace of the match. Played a part in Watford's goal, too.
Had a fine game for the most part. He and Pedro had some nice one touch combinations. He carried the ball, was not shrugged off the ball by opponents bigger than him. Shimmied to create space and throw markers off balance and had one long range effort early on. A friend who is a football analyst for several teams said he was lost at times trying to find space to drop into as the marking is much tighter and as such was floating around the final third without keeping a defined position on the right of the midfield. When he does get the ball things happen and he rarely concedes possession. And of course that little lay off around the corner to Gaspar led to the goal. A fine impressive debut for a kid in what is a very tough league.
