Not really related to the current England squad but apparently Harry Winks has been vanished from the Spurs squad. He needs a move away asap and think I move abroad somewhere would suit his game more.

Depends on which Sancho, if he can somehow get back to his Dortmund form then sure but currently I think he’s miles off it although considering everyone else isn’t exactly shining at the moment, you never know.

I saw a report the other day that said he would rather stay in the PL but there doesn’t seem any other club really wants him.

I can’t imagine many managers making such major changes just before the World Cup.

They may make a fabulous pairing and all the other CBS are struggling somewhat

It’s interesting that of the three English players on the Ballon D’Or it’s quite possible only one, Harry Kane, will be starting against Iran with Phil Foden perhaps more likely to be starting on the bench and Trent Alexander- Arnold most likely on the bench or not even in the squad. (I think both Walker and James would have to be absent or have fitness concerns for him to start.)

With 3 nominations English players are joint second for most with France and Portugal on four and Brazil joining England with three. This is decline from four nominated last season but higher than the two nominated in 2019.

Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka have both been nominated for the Kopa Trophy. English players the second highest behind three Germans nominated. This is decline from three nominated English players last year.

I don’t think that Cronaldo or Foden deserved to be in none of Messi , Bernardo Silva or Rodri managed to make the 30

Mings is back starting for Villa today after a week of mixed messages from Gerrard.

Hopefully Mings ans Coady both play well

Jacob Ramsey has started the game fabulously

Constantly breaking down the left wing with skill and pace

Probably will need an injury to someone else to make Qatar.

I hope Pickford stays fit what with Everton felling like it’s injury central at the moment.

I think Gordon’s image of falling over very easily will be a bit off putting to Southgate.

Ramsey is a big prospect for Euro 2024 but after Southgate’s comments on the kids of the summer squad I don’t see him being called uo before March,

He is the most fouled player in all Europe leagues so it’s a fair bet that many of them are NOT dives

If Kane is injured I honestly think we could go the whole World Cup without scoring a goal. And post Kane who will fill the spot. It is a major short term, medium term and long term concern.

Centre backs still a major concern as well

Gomez is expected to start for Liverpool on Monday. Considering how little playing time Stones might get and still be a certain pick. even a couple of starts between now and November might be enough for Gomez.

Rightly or wrongly if we take Southgate’s comments at face Value he won’t take all three of Mount, Foden and Maddison so for Maddison to make the squad one of the other two will have to be injured. (It’s hard to see either of them losing form in three months to be dropped.) I feel that if he does u turn, which I am getting a feeling might well happen, and take all three it would be because someone else who is a certain call up is injured instead rather than dropping someone to fit him in.

I think at least one of Coady, Mings or Dier will start in Qatar. It’s hard to see Maguire and Stones both starting and I don’t think he trusts White, Guehi or Tomori enough and will go for older players as he seems to have turned on youth a bit,

If Maguire even gets into this squad, Southgate needs his heading looking at.
He (as well as the other united players) have been disgraceful the last 2 games.
Couple that with his games for England and the man United form at the end of last season, his confidence alone would cost England goals at the next tournament.

Problem is no one else in the frame has ever performed as good as him for England.
He won’t go for someone much younger than him. It be the early 1990’s players running the defence. All the younger defenders will find starts hard to come by.

He's too stubborn. Tomori should be starting in my opinion, along with Guehi and even Dier.
    We're doomed if maguire starts.

Guehi most likely won’t make the squad - he is surely one of the players he thinks won’t be ready till Euro 2024.
He has said Dier doesn’t fit his system but I can see him recalling him. I don’t think he really rates Tomori for some reason. Mings was Maguire’s deputy last year and could be recalled to do that again as he goes full on experience over form/youth.

Agreed .. I also wish they would add Graham Potter to England’s staff to help with tactics if nothing else
