A consensus arrived at in less than a month for a player who is still developing—these guys should post on Big Soccer!
Let me put it more clearly. In a loan-with-an-option-to-buy deal the player is (very much) more than likely to have signed his contract with the borrowing club before he moves. Otherwise there's too much uncertainty and not enough upside for the borrowing club: they provide Bayern and Tillman with a platform to show his ability and coaching to develop him as a player, only for the lad to say ,"well gee, Bayer Leverkusen want me and a they're offering better money. Sorry." Who would agree to that kind of deal. Think of it as there being two parallel options in it for Rangers. If they like Tillman and think he's worth the price they've already agreed with Bayern, they'll activate their option with them and then activate their parallel option with Tillman.
I get yours point but this has been his MO in the Bayern system also. Hoping the demanding Ranger fans can spur him on more consistently.
The "stuck in Scotland" idea is suspect. Rangers will try for UCL and if/when they go out in group, they will be in Europa League. That is a good showcase for somebody like Tilman. Instead of watching European play from the bench, he will be playing. That's better than being stuck at Bayern.

Love it. "Back Post Tillman". Kid is making an impression. Wish all of the SPL Games were on Paramount+/CBS Sports so I could always be able to watch Celtic and Rangers play.
That... coupled with his raw talent and his ability to play multiple positions gets him onto mine. He has the look of a difference-maker.
Think my early read on him was a bit off, hand up. Didn’t have him on my plane to Qatar but he’s now on it for me, especially given it’s 26.
I think he felt a bit overwhelmed by our fast-paced game that GB expects from the player. The kid can adjust.
I was just as unimpressed by his production for Bayern’s reserves last year, which was a bigger sample by far than the NT mins. Think it’s still a bit TBD if he can contribute in Qatar obviously but I like the idea of having him there as a late game sub given the athleticism.
Makes the next cut for the Golden Boy: https://charotardaily.com/reyna-musah-tillman-advance-in-golden-boy-award-voting/
Man, why was he playing do reserved with Bayern and the German national teams? I did not know he was this athletic and aggressively skilled.
https://theathletic.com/3504043/2022/08/15/malik-tillman-rangers-bayern-usa/ Good technical article on Tillman by the Athletic, but it is a bummer they seemingly don't have rights to the video. Gregg seems to like him so I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the call in September, but I think he is more of a Paris/2026 guy, but he has a really bright future either way.
