Looking ahead, even if Asensio leaves next summer, Arribas will still have an uphill battle to make the team.

People forget that Brahim Diaz is still Madrid property. He just turned 23 and way further along then Arribas who turns 21 in September.

Arribas probably gets loaned out this year or next. It looks like they are trying to make a run with Castilla this year to get them promoted. There are less players going out on loan than I anticipated.

Point 1 - We are talking about Arribas vs. Brahim

Point 2 - Arribas is playing for Castilla which isn't even in 2nd division Spain.

Point 3 - Brahim is starting tomorrow for Milan

One can only wish. Remember how immediate of an impact he had or at least that’s how I remember it. He was one of my favorite players. Signing ended up being blah for many reasons.

It’s not ideal and I would want security with a backup striker signing but waiting till January isn’t the end of the world. We can make do with what we have.

You're really going back eh? :D

It's really unfortunate the passport situation, he would have been a good fit here. Super versatile and would have linked up well with Benz.

Haha because i was baffled when I saw some posters calling him awful. Almost doubted myself lol, but he would have solved all our issues (back up Benz, right wing).

But than again he wouldn’t be the man here and he is at Arsenal. Fast, good in tight spaces, good shot, there isn’t one thing you can name he is bad at. 50M was a good buy for Arsenal.

What if the next World Cup hero is a striker? That would be wierd. :ROFLMAO:

This season may be the outlier where we make a significant splash in the January window.

There are a lot of variables and risk joining a new club two months before the World Cup, I feel like some players are staying put to secure their spot this window.

For some reason I feel Nkunku will start for France and have a great tournament linking with Benz. And we’ll pull the trigger in Jan.

I really like his style of play. Can he play effectively as a RW that’s my reservation.

That would be a good outcome. Let’s see if Benz can get his recruiting down this winter, lol.

Same thoughts re the WC with him. If his performances are anywhere close to last year's and provided his agent isn't his mother, would love to us splash €60mil on him in the summer.

He's pretty decent on the wing. A definite upgrade over Assensio and whatever is left of Hazard.

The only reservation I have is that he stated he wants to go back to PSG (no RM interest at this point).

Why are people comparing Arribas with Asensio and Brahim ? They don’t even play in the same position. Arribas is a CM first and foremost. Brahim is a CAM, he plays behind the striker(he is even playing right now for Milan against Udinese in that position and he’s got a goal and an assist so far). Nobody knows what Asensio’s best position is, he sucks as a CM, RW, CAM and striker.

Brahim is like the tenth best player on the Milan roster. He's not gonna make it at Madrid.

All this Nkunku talk makes me wonder why we show no interest in Moussa Diaby. They performed very similarly in the Bundesliga last season. From what I know Diaby wants to leave this summer and his price is around 60 million, which is pretty reasonable. At 23 years old hes younger than Nkunku and offers that cutting inside option from the right by a left footer which we don't have.

Lets face it, Florentino is simply sitting on his butt. It can't be that every other elite club is reshuffling its ranks, but for Madrid every forward on the continent is either too expensive or not good enough. Its a copout.

The club wasn't looking at Nkuku for the left wing, they were looking at him as a Benzema type player that can help out and take over later. That's what he's projected to be, a player that creates from the flank but eventually is a striker and not a wing player.

Moussa Diaby gets smoked by Vinicius, not sure why we'd pay all that money for him, considering that he's not what the club is looking for.

Not sure I understand your logic.

Arribas is not a CM. The fact that people don't seem to know his position tell me they don't watch him.

Tchouameni gets smoked by Valverde. Why did we pay all that money for him?

Or to be explicit, If you don't want a right winger, where we a player short, because we have a great left winger, maybe you should question your own logic first.

And if Nkunku is supposed to be Benzema's heir, I hope to god we don't get him. 25 year old PSG flop that used to be a central midfielder, and just had his Jovic season pummeling minnows on the break. Give me Osimhen or Lautaro every day before him.

    Agree 100% on Nkuku

But isn’t Diaby a pure RW?

I’m sure you watch Castilla matches in the third league all the time. Sorry for offending you, Mr. Arribas Expert.

Yea Diaby is a RW. Had a good season last year but I personally wouldn’t be keen on him until he proves himself further, which is kind of hypocritical because Nkunku has also only had one year in attack but I’m a fan of his!
