Just to clarify, there is NOTHING better to do for the rest of your life but fly around the world following the USWNT all over the globe.

Something that concacaf needs. Would've been better if the W championship was two groups of 4 with 3 home and 3 away games, would be boring for the USWNT but would be far better for teams like Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Jamaica Haiti. The second tier Concacaf teams are better than most of the friendly opponents the USWNT plays.

While that is pretty much a really good idea it is not one that will happen and it is because most of CONCACAF is too poor to afford the costs of hosting their matches. In fact the current complex format is devised as a way to give the weak teams enough "meaningful" matches to allow for improvement. It is not working because the various countries will not put forth the effort and money needed to actually make their women's team better. I do not see any CONCACAF team except the US and Canada and maybe Mexico getting truly better. It has to do with support more that the format. The women need to have broader support in their county before the qualifying tournament's format matters much.
I do think that lower level CONCACAF women's teams will get better in time but the time frame for that to happen will be too long for me to actually see it happen.

BTW: Mexico makes it clear that a popular club system is not the only driver of quality at the national level. There is something else that makes a team "good."

The Mexican team was far better when there was no league when they qualified for two consecutive world cups, and then as soon as the liga MX femenil starts growing they get worse and miss two world cups.

Hopefully this tournament will strengthen the region. 21 countries playing meaningful home and away games similar to the men's nations league will probably make concacaf the second strongest confederation after uefa. But I wonder who's going to foot the bill here.

I do not really think that the league coming into existence is directly related to Mexico's performance. I think there are two things that has mostly contributed to their downfall:
    1. The earlier Mexican teams were largely driven by the play of one Maribel Domínguez. She carried the Mexican team for the years they were truly good and her influence could even be seen in the play of the Mexican team when she could not play.
    2. (This is related to the league's existence but not because of the league) It appears that as soon as Mexican players move out of the various youth development levels they become stagnate. The only reasons I can think of is that either the coaching is VERY poor in the league or the Mexican talent is so diluted by the number of teams that skill development stagnates.

The US actually went through a similar period but we had the advantage of a huge talent pool and the college programs which did more good than harm to the overall program.

I actually think that somehow the US needs to help the rest of CONCACAF get better. I do not really know what the US can do but without CONCACAF getting better it will always be difficult for the US to maintain a good, hard and sharp edge.
At this point the only question in any CONCACAF tournament is which of CANADA and The US will win and which will be second. That is NOT good for either country and really not good for CONCACAF.

Yes and the Mexican youth teams have no problem qualifying for the youth world cups. In fact Mexico and Ghana are the only two teams in the U20 world cup that failed to qualify for the senior world cup.

but now you have to dress in battle gear just to get tickets… as I’ll be off work I may just zip up to London and see if I can get a ticket somehow.
Or if Jack can use his prowess and grab an extra ticket I’d be happy to pay double for it !!

    hey… I smell a Meet&Greet.

in other news I see Sophia Huerta is now playing 2 positions at once.

    here
Screw concacaf. I don't want the ladies to fail to qualify for something b/c we've helped concacaf, and they pull a couva.

The way for the ladies to stay sharp is to keep playing high level out-of-confederation competition. If that means junking Sheba Leaves so that they can play better teams, then do it.

we might be getting a lil break…..Ellen White, known by some as the ‘Diving Queen’ has decided to retire from England’s NT(guess no pompous, going away game for her). Possibly retirement motive…..she could beat most refs, but not VAR?

any betting odds on this game from Lloyds of London?

got the feeling England’s taking this game very serious, at the other hand our man Vlatko is unbeaten in friendliest competition(I worry more on how poorly he paced the team at the Olympics).

Looks like England has learned some things that the US has forgotten, namely how to quickly and thoroughly put a bad team out of its, and everybody else's, misery.

Of course this result says almost nothing about the upcoming England vs USA match.

Poor Luxembourg's GK looked on the brink of tears at every goal...

One of the goals' actions could have maybe had an off-side in it? :cautious:
