We haven't beaten Freiburg away in quite some time. Let's change that.

We lost against them last season and it wasn't undeserved.
Adeyemi won't be available but Özcan might get his first minutes for us in a competitive game.

We need to face the facts we have a very average team and the signings weren't good. I hope Terzic won't get blamed for this.

I think Terzić's real pressure is going as far as possible in the CL and possibly winning the DFB-Pokal. Everyone has accepted Bayern have a vise grip on the Meisterschale.

I wouldn't even agree with that this year.

We are really no better than Leipzig or Leverkusen especially if they have everyone fit. Sadly it's a 50/50 game with them.

As for the CL there are just several teams better than us. Say we get a group with City and Barca, Madrid and Liverpool then we are definitely out.

I am sorry to sound pessimistic, but we are not even building a tem for the future.

Meunier, Raphael, Modeste and Bellingham all might leave before the start of the next season.

Our teenagers turn the game around. That's some impact by Gittens and Moukoko.

Wolf is a limited player but has a motor that runs non stop and as such should never be behind Hazard on the depth chart who has been atrocious for us in quite some time now.

I only saw the second half. I really liked Wolf and he's a type we need. I'm fine with both our RBs and it seems Guerreiro is balling again as well.
Freiburg has developed a really good team and shouldn't be underestimated but even without conceding goals in the second half, I think our defense looked too shaky.

    - If Terzic's most appreciated quality is that he can motivate the team, then what kind of motivation was this for the first 75 minutes of the game? Very stale play. Owo commentating on ESPN called it out in the 1st half: All players were just standing. No movement.

    - If we were playing against better quality attackers, we would have ended the first half 0-3 down. Defense is shaky! Still! Does Akanji not want to play because of wanting a transfer?? I doubt it! Play the dude. You will advertise him, at the very least.

    - Bynoe-Gitten always ahead of Hazard. Always! Even Brandt should play as a WINGER ahead of Hazard. I would even add Moukoko to that list. And Hazard didn't even have a bad game compared to his average.

    - Brandt, Moukoko, Bynoe-Gitten and Wolf all turned the game around because they *play football* and take risks and have guts. Unlike many, I haven't seen Brandt slacking off in a game in at least 2 seasons. These are the types of players that should be playing. Not Hazard.

    - We should also admit that Reus sometimes disappears in tough games, and we should start routinely having Brandt (or even Jude!) play at the 10 for the last 20ish minutes of the game. If he proves himself, then we start rotating Reus and Brandt. We just need to have quality and desire out on the pitch as much as possible. Coach must find a way to make this happen.

I said it was going to be a challenge. I think some of these posts are a bit knee jerk and dont give enough credit to the guys for sticking through in a tough environment. We never conceded after that first goal.

Are we world class? Nope. Are we a top 20 club in the world? Yes.

We just arent good enough to win any trophies this year unless we upgrade about two to three positions and spend around 100 million. But to say we arent competing is a little discredit to the ones working hard.

Are we a top 20 side?
    Madrid, Barcelona,
It's because we are badly set up. It's not a case of Reus disappearing. We don't have players to do their jobs so we don't have space in the right areas.

It's not eve. A case Bynoe-Gitten being world class he just creates space because he is a winger and allows other players to shine. Brandt has actually been our best player for some time, but gets treated badly. He should always be starting.

Bellingham is a huge liability in midfield and he is not as good as Reus at 10. You are right though he should be moved up the pitch. All the England coaches realised this after a couple of games. There's no way Dortmund are thus stupid. There's something in his contract.

Part of the reason our defense is so bad is we don't have a proper defensive midfielder and we don't have wide forward that track back and do a good job. If we had sorted out these two positions and most importantly got a DM then things would be better.

As for Moukoko. The boy will continue to grow and is already scoring goals.

Agree with this. Hope Ozcan starts soon, he could be the defensive midfielder we are looking for. I honestly think Can there is not a bad option. He is a defensive midfielder after all, using him to fill holes in our defence is madness. One of those two should always start in my book, along with Dahoud as his partner and Brandt further forward.

Think it will not be a bad idea for the club to start thinking about slowly phasing out Reus. He is 33 and injury prone throughout his career (hope he avoids injuries as much as possible) and will not get younger.

I agree that we'll eventually need someone who can take over for Reus. He was great when Favre put him behind the striker and as I was watching some highlights of old matches recently, I think Alcacer was the perfect partner for him. But experience is valuable on the 10, particularly when you have to consider that very young players like Gittens will break into the first team and that Moukoko will get his chances as well.

Further, when looking at a replacement, we shouldn't only think about the offensive output. What I've seen in the last game again was him coming back into our half when Freiburg was attacking and winning back the ball. That's something he always brought to the table and offensive players being part of the defensive structure has been essential for us for a long time.
