A must-win game. Whatever formation or players trotted out there, they have to win this game.

Win or lose doing something different. That is all I care about. i don't need more proof that Costa is not fit. Don't just stand there; do something, ffs, or gtfo.

If the team plays and loses that's one thing I can take. I just can't take watching a game where they are not playing. The latter is going to lose fans and $$$ and give the team a bad reputation that scares off talent apart from those looking for a cushy deal where they can work on their tan.

Vanney is turning into the grandpa who can't stop telling the same war story over and over again while seemingly thinking he's telling it for the first time.

Poor Doyle. He keeps hammering on the same point about a 352 - like many around here - and wondering why it is never tried:

I maintain that the easiest solution is to play a 3-5-2 with Joveljic and Chicharito up top. That gives the Galaxy a pair of goalscorers, numbers in midfield to control the pitch, and numbers along the backline to shore up what can be a gaffe-prone defense.

But Vanney’s refused to even try it for more than a few minutes at a time. It’s either the 4-4-2, which cedes too much central midfield control, or the 4-2-3-1, which usually puts Joveljic on the bench and asks Cabral to be a finisher.

So here they are, three points below the line and with three wins in the past three months.

That is not the whole story – as mentioned, the defense has become more error-prone as the season’s worn on, and Jonathan Bond has not been in good form – but if they were just potting a reasonable amount of the chances they do so well to so regularly carve out, they’d be on 40 points and coasting to a home playoff game.

Doyle says it well. Of course it is exactly what Hog and I have been saying for a year and a half now, but better late than never. :)

If Puig can start I want to see the following,...

    4-2-3-1
    ---------------------Chichrito
    ---------DeJan-----Puig------Costa
    ------------Brugman--Delgado
    Edwards--Williams--Sega----Araujo
    ----------------------Bond

If he can't start I want to see the following,...

    4-3-3
    -----DeJan-----Chichrito----Cabral
    ---------------------Costa------
    ------------Brugman--Delgado
    Edwards--Williams--Sega----Araujo
    ----------------------Bond

Considering that Costa can't play more than 30 minutes, I would rather see Sasha start in that position. He is a much better passer (and strictly my impression teammate). He also plays better defense that either Costa or Victor. If the Galaxy get the lead, I would then rather see one of the kids come in for the 2nd half.

Oh, great. We have really backed ourselves into a corner. Somehow we are in worse shape than we were in last season. Ignoring the Klein situation for a moment: Barring a miracle end of season turnaround, Vanney does not deserve a third season.

Vancouver's two best goal scorers are out, so someone we've never heard of will get a brace.

I think Vanney is committed to dying on his 4-3-3 formation with Cabral and Costa getting starts.

Vasquez is out. If Puig is not available, I'd prefer we start Sacha as the more advanced playmaking midfiedler but I guess Efra would be the choice.

This team is so depressing this summer.

With Williams being out, I think vanney will play a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3. Unfortunately same issues with arise with our wingers being massive liabilities. 5-3-2 or 3-5-2 whatever you want to call it is really the only way forward.

I'd rather see a backline of Zavaleta-Coulibaly-Depuy/Neal than play the 4-4-2 with Cabral and Costa on the wings again.

Also last I heard, Puig still doesn't have his work visa.

I'd only want Victor and Sasha as subs. Costa is currently the better option if you play someone wide. In my formation he is at CAM so less defensive responsibilities.
Now that Williams is out I would go for DePuy in his spot.
Assuming Riqui can't play until next week.

    4-2-1-3/4-3-3
    -----DeJan-----Chicharito----Cabral
    ---------------------Costa------
    ------------Brugman--Delgado
    Edwards--DePuy--Sega----Araujo
    ----------------------Bond

    Subs
    Victor for Costa
    Efrain for Cabral
    Aguirre for Brugman
    Gasper for Edwards
    Saldana for Chicharito

Game should end looking like so,...

    4-4-2
    ----------DeJan---------Efrain
    ------------------Vazquez------
    -----Aguirre---Saldana--Delgado
    Gasper--DePuy-----Sega----Araujo
    ----------------------Bond

We should secure a win if we play this properly.
We have ZERO excuse to lose this game.

We've had games with zero excuse to lose them and we have blown them sky high. This just another one.

Come on Greg. You're not just blowing up the season for us fans if you lose, this is your reputation on the line here.

Sucks about Williams but whatever. At least its not because of injury.

Cavallini out I like. That dude can be a pain in the ass once he gets rolling. Good target in the box for crosses and CKs and is good finisher in the box in general.

True which is why if we go on a losing streak you have to boot Vanney at the end of the season.

Im really struggling to find motivation to watch this game. I hope we put out an interesting lineup. I can’t see Chicharito starting after playing so long in the ASG.

I think you found your answer, DeJan gets to start and play a little more and we can also get a good glimpse at how he pairs with Cabral and if they change their style to try to compliment each other.

also as a bonus I can see DeJan giving Cabral the bird when he does something stupid, which is almost guaranteed.

Crap, I just gave myself a reason to watch tonight, stupid me
