Newcastle is basically just monitoring attacking players on big 6 teams that they can bring in for a loan. They'd also be interested in Hudson-Odoi too, as they keep getting prices much higher than they want to pay for attacking players (and despite their wealth they still have to comply with financial fair play rules).
Well, if James is not 100% then Puli's likely to get some minutes as his backup. Also, they cannot just "let go" a player like a company can fire an employee. There's a contract, the player must agree to leave. Puli's not going to leave for half the wages. I bet he's going to ride his contract to the end, if he must. The I-want-outs are posturing, if they exist at all.
you can tell it is an op Ed they start the story as Sterling is a “guaranteed” source of goals no one is a guarantee in Tuchel’s system
And his man management of Pulisic is excellent. Pulisic should have a long, eventful year ahead of him.
Oh come on. At least Tuchel achieves to his talent level. Southgate vs. Italy has to be one of the most embarrassing displays of management ever.
With Aaronson, the coach means everything. He can play like a chicken with his head cut off or a brain surgeon depending what role he is given.
Lol, exposing myself as a non American here but 'let him go' doesn't mean fire him. It means 'allow him to seek a transfer if that's what he wants instead of forcing him to stay'. I wouldn't be surprised if Timo Werner took a pay cut to go back to RB Leipzig. If you're going to be obscenely rich either way money isn't going to be the primary concern for everyone.
More and more rumors coming out about Pulisic - I am thinking most, if not all, are just tabloid fodder and garbage conjecture (or is there fire where there is smoke?). There are reports about interest from Newcastle and West Ham, and a story out there about a possible swap deal with Roma with Zaniolo coming to Chelsea. Again, I am not buying it....yet. If another attacker does come in, then writing is on the wall for CP. I do hope this is Pulisic's last season at Chelsea, but that is contingent on if Tuchel survives the season. I think TT will not. Tuchel is already starting to complain about the players, the signings, etc and is beginning his usual routine towards the end of his customary 2 year shelf life, where he wears out his welcome. At some point the guy has to coach what he has got; I know he does not have Liverpool or Man City firepower, but complaining all the time seems ridiculous.
I'm guessing there are a few teams looking into him. It's probably not hard to locate the scouts at the games and know who they are working for. Tuchel lasts as long as the team is in Champions League contention. Throwing more attackers at their problems isn't going to solve them. They need a more of everything else.
I don't particularly like where this is heading right now. On one hand, Puli's contract very well could outlast Tuchel. But the end of a coach's stint usually gets really ugly. On the other hand, rumors were Puli was going to put in a transfer request and reneged after Tuchel said he really wants him. Now we're again seeing swap rumors. Not where you wanna be as a player. And, like it or not, excuses or not, Puli's value on the market doesn't appear to be that high although that largely would be related to his London wages. I still say my previous approach is the best for Puli. Put your head down, F the outside noise, PLAY your game and be aggressive. Opportunity will follow. At the worst that makes you more attractive to suitors. Makes it clear to everyone Tuchel's system is holding you back, but you're still the Puli who'll get past you mark and create chances. A positive is in a system which is holding everyone back, the bar to stick out positively isn't as high. Case and point, last weekend Puli was better than Mount/Kai.
Pulisic to Roma would be horrid! TT May be Mou’s love child. Basically the same coach: Gets player to buy in for a season Losses locker room Becomes toxic Goes to a new club to repeat. I bet this is the last elite club TT coaches at. It is Roma on down from here on out
Guy took a struggling club and turned it around to win the champions league. I'm pretty sure he'll still get some phone calls. I get not wanting Puli to play in this system but no need to go overboard.
Agree with everything you said here. To be honest, his game hasn't taken the next step tactically and he's lost a half-step of explosion -- and this system is doing him zero favors. I also think he's a bit....focused "commercially" right now and is across a ton of brand advertising and more. I mean he just announced he's releasing a book (Christian Pulisic announces that his book will be releasing this Fall. 📚 pic.twitter.com/ani7UQvBzj— USMNT Only (@usmntonly) August 11, 2022 ). It'd be nice to see him put his head down and grind through this and ensure he shows up ready to go for the 3(+) games in Qatar.
Without complaining there would be no excuses for the soon to be demoted Pulisic. Fandom is a butch and irreality is an epidemic.
How much of his story can he tell that we don't all know by now? I suppose it'll focus a lot on the anguish at not qualifying for the World Cup and winning the Champion's League.
I will skip the book, as it will be a fluff piece, I am sure. What I really look forward to is the tell-all book when he retires in 12-15 years, and goes all in on his real thoughts towards USSF, Couva, TT, Greggg, etc etc If he "writes" a book like Zlatan did, no effs given, then that will be a real read....
