Quakes STH should be pretty happy for next year - that's the best package we've had for awhile honestly. That and a new coach (hopefully a good one).
If you only valued the netting because you got a photo with Wondo, then the FO should skip the netting and offer everyone a photo with a favorite player. Does anyone need more scarves?
I would be up for getting a photo with a different favorite player every season. (I have more scarves than I know what to do with, though my 2023 STH scarf will go to the museum.)
Every season ticketholder gets a free drink every game next season, I believe. It's an extension of the program available to supporters ticketholders in 2022. I've had a free beer on the Quakes virtually every game this season. (And sometimes, a couple per game since other supporters give me their vouchers. )
Don, do you just go to the Quakes STH tent in the epicenter, and anyone who knows you gives you a voucher? I was surprised to get a couple last game (altho 2 vouchers = 1 coke + peanuts). So not enough for drinks for both of us.
I’m a supporter, aren’t I? Oh you mean I have to be in the Ultras or Faultline or something? That’s not fair.
When you can't offer quality at least offer quantity (not complaining, this is actually a pretty good deal)
Exactly. When I said it was a good package I actually wasn't even thinking about the scarf. You get to go to lots of games and no meaningless friendlies (although Quakes friendlies were usually fun). I predict the Quakes will make a lot of money from the Leagues Cup games (especially if they luck out and get one of the bigger clubs). They probably lose money on Open Cup though - that's usually a pretty empty stadium.
We're bottom tier https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/ranking-all-28-mls-teams-by-tier-at-the-all-star-break
The main take away for me is that Monteiro is great but he's not the all-star that we need. If we do as Doyle suggests and get a top-of-the-league #10 will the new coach find a way to play him and Monteiro? Will the Quakes spend the money to get such a player? Are we capable of finding such a player? He calls out Nathan, Beason, Benji, Marie as looking good but not starting caliber for any MLS team. It's pretty certain that Beason will be back to bench once Rodrigues is available. We'll almost certainly be signing a new left back as Marie is a regression over Marcos. A new center back isn't a bad idea either. However I think our midfield will need more work as neither Judson, Jackson, or Remedi have been playing well enough. It all depends on the new coach, money, and our ability to scout and sign players.
Video of the Galaxy and their inability to finish showed a couple of epic misses (as in worse than Shea's Coliseum miss) by "world class" forward Chicharito.
Too big of a hole dug by Matias's first 7 games. And... "The best thing about this year is that they’ve done what I think is shrewd work pruning the Almeyda-focused signings and building out a foundation of in-their-prime pieces who can provide a framework for what’s to come." Yep. Also, Matt Doyle apparently completely unaware that we signed a La Liga defender and another Brazilian CB? Not that those are necessarily game changers, but not worth a mention?
I'll push back on the need to bring in an MVP caliber #10 (obviously if the option exists I'd love to do so), Moralez, Zelarayan, Lodeiro, Almiron, etc are necessary for teams who want to win the MLS Cup but I just want to make the playoffs. Looking at teams in Tiers 3 and above, Monteiro is better than Luquinhas from NYRB, and Gauld from Vancouver and Pereyra from Orlando in the a whole lot of teams that could go either way Tier 4 that's just above us. With a good DP level left winger like Sebastian Blanco who can play in the middle if necessary, a solid Lopez replacement, and decent coach we should easily make it to Tier 4 next season. The blurb on Orlando sounds like what I want to hear next year:
