Didn't the transfer window close yesterday? If so, I guess he can go get some free agent that was cut loose from their team in the Mongolian First Division.

I guess this means that the Fire are committed to a single striker setup. Heitz better come with strikers who are capable of being alone up top next season.

Duran could grow into that since he is still young, but there is no one else on the squad that appears to be capable right now.

  3. Another Central American U-20 captain will be on trial with the Fire this week. The top shelf center back cupboard is bare in the academy. Like with Osorio at CAM, they are making a smart move to fill in areas of weakness.

A project for sure. Transfer Markt has Zuniga valuated at $11,000.

Yeah, I know those valuations are suspect. Let's hope the scouting dept. is ahead of the curve here.

  5. The lad was in the U-20 tournament's best XI. He's due to play in the U-20 World Cup. On paper only Brady and maybe Glasgow would be considered bigger prospects for the Fire.

True, and, my, that boy is pasty in his transfermarkt photo:

I always hope a kid we sign pans out, sadly most do not.
    Glad they are doing something.

Too bad they could not figure out the holes in the first team in the transfer window.

And Osario's signing with Fire ll has been announced.

He's not married, so there's no wife to want him to go to NY (technically the swamps of Jersey).

  8. All signs point to them playing the long game. For instance, Fire II was heavy on #8s, #9s, and wide players. The biggest holes were at CAM & CB. They went after 2 of the best Central American prospect outside of Costa Rica who BTW happen to play CAM & CB. The first team holes were apparent to all, but they didn't see value in bumping up their offers to players.

ID-ing and signing promising young prospects is precisely what a well run club does. Hope these moves become increasingly frequent. The Fire II are a perfect vehicle for the starlets.

I am starting to think maybe Gaston might actually be a pretty decent player for the Fire though not as a DP. I very much like Mueller. Love Fede (even if sometimes reckless the guy is huge with tackles and breaking up plays and even added a goal or two). I suppose I expected more of Shaq being a guy who could beat players of the dribble but it is clear he cannot. I AM glad he is a truly world class passer though and that in itself makes him worth the money for me. I would like him to stop complaining at the refs. I doubt he has Any effect there at all other then annoy and potentially risk a yellow for dumb reasons. Not sure what the Fire will do to replace Slonina for next season. I hope they do not spend a lot of money for a nothing special player. Still...am oddly more hopeful for the Fire as a whole then I'd been for awhile despite the back and forth season.

  12. TBH, there's not much, if any dropoff from Slonina to Brady. They just decided on Slonina early on.

I hope you are right because if so...the deal of Slonina was even a bigger one then it seemed.

I read that LAG gave us 50k in GAM for a 2022 international roster slot. Hooray.

Can we loan an injured Gaston to Lugano to get him off the books? Super shifty, but if possible, why not?

I don’t see why not…I like the idea..

..except the Fire may not have anyone identified that they want to sign in the next two days, rendering the move moot. Although we did trade a intl roster spot for 50k in GAM. Maybe we could do the same with Gaston’s place and bank a little funny money for next season.

I asked something similar about Kacper on Reddit earlier this year. I don’t remember the details but the upshot was yes you can but you have to do it in such a way that it probably doesn’t help out in the way you’d hope.

I had completely forgotten that Stanislav Ivanov was even on the team.
He has played in 3 of the past 14 games and one in the past six.
