They had how many years to prepare for this World Cup? Now they are changing dates deep into the ticket-buying phases and after many have booked flights and accommodation. Talk about being disorganized!
when I looked like 3 hours ago, they had two twin beds room. when i went to grab my ticket number they were gone
Now tell us who's winning the world cup! i'm going to make a bet in Las Vegas. Seriously tho. It sounds like Ecuador was told about the possibility early in July.
It all shows how much FIFA attaches value to the simple football fans. Lack of communication, ticket and resale platform that is hardly working, changing or maybe not changing dates of matches, no accommodation availably for most of us, etc... Go ahead, in the future, just fill your stadiums with sponsors, officials and big FIFA friends. No better way to kill the World Cup and soccer as such. And then, when FIFA is sitting on all this money from TV stations and sponsors, maybe (just maybe) realize, when it's all too late, that football needs fans...
What Uefa and Fifa are… the definition of a monopoly. People love for the game will outweigh the temporary inconveniences caused by the organizing these events. They know they can get away with all the BS by past experiences.
Do you think these hotels would be grumpy if I fit 3 people in a 2 person room? Anyone doing something similar? We def prefer to stay in one of these in downtown Doha than the sterile apartments in the outskirts.
That's why the Super League was crushed (temporarily) by both FIFA and UEFA. They sent their media minions all over the world to crush it; and they did! With their self-righteous -- we care about the game and fans!-- BS! The Super League takes away their monopoly on money and power. They clearly were planning this since early July, maybe sooner. Yet they continued to sell tickets to fans. Sat around and watched fans struggle with accommodations and flights.
If anybody here is looking for sharing accommodations, let me know. I am a solo traveler looking for 22-28, would be down to split the JW or Ritz
FIFA is not the problem, UEFA is not the problem! You and the average fan all over the globe are the problem! You really must understand that! Its not that difficult. No offence by the way
Yes, it looks like your post from back them is coming true! I stand by my reply too, changing the date to Sunday makes sense it's just ridiculous that this decision is being made 3 months before the match. For some people with tickets to Match 1 this could cause a big issue if their original plans were to arrive late Sunday afternoon or Sunday evening. The ESPN article says this: "FIFA has assessed the impact on supporters and expects it to be minimal, though any issues over travel and accommodation will be handled on a case-by-case basis." So for ticket holders with arrivals on Monday, will they allow them to add an additional day to the front end of their accommodation booking (and charge for it of course)? Right now it's impossible to make a 1 night booking. If flight changes are required, will they compensate for the flight change fees (highly doubtful)? Then there is the whole issue of those with tickets to both Match 2 and 4. Just wondering how much support they will provide to those affected.
my guess is they will allow you to refund matches 2 or 4 without penalty if you choose. Also allowing you to add an extra night at the front end at your own cost will not be an issue either as it is the start of the tournament and there will be availability. Sucks to suck on flights tho as that will be the one that will be screw people over.
they should just move the england vs iran game forward 1.5 hours. so it'd be 4.5 hours in between kick off times. and ppl like me who have tickets to matches 2 and 4 don't have to worry about refunding a game
The accommodations shouldn't be a problem if you're staying at the military complex (since well be the first to occupy them). But Hotels usually don't have empty rooms sitting around. The flights? you're completely screwed, and because most flights cant be changed.. the hotel availability is useless because you wont be there to take advantage of whatever arrangement they make.
I cannot imagine the price gouging that we are going to incur over there. In my opinion, everything is going to be at least double (probably triple). I just looked up some tours on Trip Advisor and you can see the price per day on a calendar....and guess what...Over double during the world cup. To think that we are only going to see it in hotels is probably wishful thinking. Its going to be everything.
i'm not doing anything in Qatar besides the beach (free) and the games. I've seen piles of sand everywhere in the world. You've seen one pile of sand; you've seen them all.
That's just crazy. Doesn't really affect me too much as I have tickets for both matches 1 + 3, Qatar vs Ecuador and Senegal v Netherlands. I bought the latter specifically as I thought it'd be the opening match of the WC but oh well. I live in Qatar so isn't that much of a problem for me, but I can understand how Ecuadorian fans must be livid atm....
unfortunately most of the nice beaches in Doha are hotel-owned and it'll be winter, too cold for us local residents to tread anywhere near the beach. There's always shopping then again, once you've seen one shopping center, you've seen a-mall....
especially if they currently have flights arriving Monday morning. Accommodation change, flight change, and begging the boss for an extra day off from work.
yea, such an easy fix but they want to make this hard on us and we'd be able to attend all 3 games on that day too
The country is run by 1 wealthy "King". He feels the need to move things around; it happens. That's basically what's going on here. Infantino gets a suitcase with money and ... voila! It happens. Hopefully the King doesn't decide he wants Qatar to make deep run in the tournament! Otherwise were going to see some controversial calls in group A. It happened in 82 when the Kuwait Prince went on the pitch and made the ref wipe out France's goal.
I think the accommodations will be OK even the hotels. If a booking starts that Monday, I think there will be rooms open the day before as I can't see there being too many Sunday check outs. Agreed the apartments should be fine. It is an added cost though. In some cases flight changes will be doable, in other cases it might be really hard and really costly. If someone booked a really cheap inbound flight many months ago to land Monday morning, the flights arriving on Sunday will probably be much more expensive.
