If true, it would suck for Qatar / Ecuador as the teams would have one less day for an already short preparation window.

I wonder if this affects the other Monday games in terms of timing.

 

Assuming the rumor is true. If WC starts on a Sunday would that just be game 1 or is everything getting shifted? Would kind of be a kick in the nuts to those that had planned out their trip already and have flights/accommodations lol

 

It probably leaked from the Ecuador federation. They probably have already been told of the change since theyre playing that match. (unless Chile and Italy win their appeals)

 

In my view, if anything would change, just the Monday matches

IF true, the only schedule change that would make sense would move the other group A match to 4PM local kick off. But, we are talking about FIFA so they'll probably move the other two start times just to piss off more people!

 

Yes, sometimes FIFA may hold them for sometime. They will be released with the next few drops, don't worry.

I disagree with your portrayal of International Hockey: Did Mexico not get a buy to the 2nd round of World Cup qualifying, just like Canada would in hockey? In that regard, the two are quite similar. The difference is that Olympic hockey often provides the premier stage, while in soccer it is the world cup. Both happen every 4 years.
