Covid, injuries, excitement of a new coach and Virkus denying any offers for what seems like half their starters.........
So much for the hope of having the squad settled by the opener.

A good start under a new coach with many players hungry to prove something...if that's not enough then???Lets not forget Hutter had a muthafaaaacking hard set of games piled up against him....if we can pick up points in our couple of first games ( hoppenheim and S04) Things will look very different.
As per usual what's a season for gladbach worth if they don't end up with a critical injury??? Yea El Capitano is out for several weeks....so in that senses the gods have kept it "real" for us:p:eek::mad::confused::(:whistling::cautious:o_O:rolleyes:

We did have a good start in the Cup. We need a good start at home vs Hoffenheim. Game is not sold out, but probably 90% full.

Five games appear to be sellouts: Koeln (of course), Frankfurt, the Wrong Borussia, Schalke, Bayern. But you can get tickets for Schalke away next week.

Also, I have tickets for Week 34 vs Augsburg.

As I alluded to earlier, the lack of quality in the attacking midfield, coupled with a good # of starters looking to go, can sabotage any new coach trying to implement his system. I think the Foals are solid enough at the back, but with a leader who values possession who is really going to contribute to keeping it? Talk of players out/in...........I don't know them but at least the positions are favorable.......just wonder if it's going to take the first month of the season before the entire squad can start to gel.

Struggled at times in the opener, but rallied nicely up a man for the debut win for Farke.

I think it will be a challenging season, but we do have some quality players. Hard to say how we will do.

And Plea and Hoffmann have re-signed through 2025. That's good news for long-term stability.

I thought and said at the time he was the most important signing of the window for the club. Thuram & Bensebaini want to go, and Yann has adopted a "wait & see" mode. The "Weigl loan talk" makes me wonder if somebody else is on the move I wouldn't have been expecting.
Virkus is doing well-and I do like him-but he is at the mercy of sales to fill in the holes the roster desperately needs to.

They played between minutes 70-80 @ Gelsenkirchen, then threw away 2 points they didn't really deserve. Take it and run I suppose.....but Itakura saved their bacon yet again.

1 of 2 on PK vs. Hertha and it is enough to get to the upper half of the table. Itakura is damn impressive, the attacking mids.......not so much.

Does Farke hate his bench that much?

That's what the guys on Fohlen Radio were talking about yesterday. He doesn't seem to like subs much. That's probably ok in a three-sub league, but not with the 5 sub situation you now have. Bremen beat Dortmund today with three guys scoring who entered in the last 20 min, with all goals after the 89th minute. Now that's unusual, but shows the benefit of fresh legs when you can change out half your field players To be fair, Dortmund did the same.

One other fun comment--the guys noted that Gladbach had plyed about twice s many passes as Hertha, but "that gives the lads twice as many chances to mke a mistake"

Somehow survive a case of the Muenchies. Everybody defended hard, Sommer & Kone went beyond the call of duty. BMG somehow capitalized on the 1 defensive mistake they made, and Farke actually used subs!

    but:

the lack of speed and quickness in many areas of the field was glaring.
Can only hope Thursday brings some resolution to a team in flux and the ability to get on with their season, whatever it's going to be.

Really happy with what Farke has established in such a short time in Gladbach.
Sommer was a whole different "one man army" we really had a proper tactical plan for Hollywood and we could have walked away with all 3 points.
Bensebaini not being present was a huge void we couldn't recover from too.
It was a pity how sommer blocked so many critical situations and went down on an easy shot...all in all it was another huge slap in the face for Hollywood in their own house! As for lack of speed i believe our coach wanted our boys to slow down and not get caught with their pants down?

too early in the Bundesliga...but one thing is obvious and already written in stone...the lads respect our coach and Farke is the type of guy this club needs....so in that sense am 110 sure we are moving in the right direction...in other news Julian Weigl seems to be joining our ranks which is huge!

    Mainz?:

The injury to Elvedi changed the game.
Thuram shows off his inconsistent finishing.
The lack of speed and creativity in the AM on display throughout. Long balls only-no ability to play through otherwise.
I thought Kramer had a decent match-which surprised me a bit considering the press he faced.

Id say we had prob's 3 clear cut one-on-ones with their keeper...and perhaps 5 really great opportunity to open their gate first.....but a team that plays in such a league with the best cannot throw away such opportunities , and we all know that "golden rule" when you don't score you will conceive...and that what exactly happened. The new cameroonian winger tho is pretty solid even he could a short period to show-case his skills. And that free kick...hats off to the striker but Yan had technical difficulty or assumptions either with himself or with the D-Line in front! Now is the time to really evaluate Farke...and how he will respond with this result? His facial expression speaks volume...i like the guy:ninja:
