No striker/forward at CFC have yet to have a productive season under TT. It truly is a place where good forwards go to disappear.

And no, Mount is not a striker/forward.

Pulisic should definitely stay at Chelsea. I presume the Ziyech rumors are based on Ziyech not starting and asking to get out.

Didn't see the opener but I'd guess it was same ol' same ol'. Somebody like Ziyech can come into a game and change it. Chelsea seem like a club who can use somebody like that. My guess is that Tuchel hangs on to him with a box of chocolates or something like that. There must be a lot of clubs interested in him.

That's what I thought about Mount, too, until I read your comment about Chelsea being "a place where good forwards go to disappear." So, either Mount is a good forward on his way to disappearing or a poor forward who has just about reached his potential. Or, he is really a very good midfielder forced to pretend he is actually a forward.

There's actually a plot? That's giving TT too much credit, at least at the attacking end of the field.

No one's going to pay Puli what Chelsea is paying him, so I won't believe any of these rumors until after the move has happened.

IMO, he's a very good attacking midfielder.

A sizeable portion of this goals/assists come from dead ball situations.

I wonder what kind of pay cut Timo had to take in order to return to the Bundi.

I can't imagine RBL pays him anywhere near what CFC had been paying him.

It’s widely reported that he is taking a substantial pay cut to move to RBL with some rumors of up to 50%.

He gets the most minutes of the attackers so he has the "best" stats. His best ability under Tuchel has been availability.

    He's a midfielder.

It's clear that coaches like him and try to get him on the field because of his effort and skill. His tactical discipline is poor for the midfield, so they have no choice but put him up top to chase. What he really is, he's a coach killer. He gives a coach just enough to make them think they're doing the right thing. So they keep shoving the square peg into the round hole and throwing the rest of the team off hoping for an eventual payoff. All the while the team keeps playing to less than the sum of their parts.

FWIW Aubemeyang made his name under Tuchel. Will be interesting to see if they acquire him from Barca.

Assists? Yes. Certainly. He gets to take a lot if not all of the corners and set pieces when he is in. That has been one of the few offensive areas that Chelsea has been good at since TT arrived. So IMO you really need to consider his assist numbers in that context.... but I can't recall him getting a ton of goals directly from set pieces. There have been a few for sure... but I think he is a good striker of the ball in the run of play and should get credit for that. Still seems like TT could do a lot better with what he has up top and in the midfield.

Ziyech doesn’t play defense and really only has (1) thing going for him- that left foot. He’s just not that good imo.

But I agree 100% that Puli should stay at Chelsea.

Watched the Everton game from time Pulisic came on. He was fantastic. I can see he's in same great form he was in to close out 2022 season. Really looking forward to watching him with Blues this year. Tuchel is great at knowing how to use Puli and has brought him to this place, Good job.

Around the 94' mark I'mk pretty sure that's Pulisic drawing the foul but not sure because the broadcasters were going on about how good teams know how to manage the game at the end and gave as an example how you can give the ball to Jorginho o_O anywhere on the pitch and he knows what to do in those situations.

    ----------auba
    ---sterling---havertz
    ----------mount
    -------kante--jorginho
    cucu---------------------james

Pulisic will get a lot of minutes in the rotation and be tuned up nicely for WC where he will have the opportunity to polish his resume further. Good times.

I think the fundamental problem with Chelsea is

#1Tuchels man management (who has really thrived in his system? And look at where Rutger is now!)

#2 Jorginho - can I be more specific or am I just being lazy because I don’t like his over confidence and annoying penalty kick hop? Yes.

Last season Chelsea finished 3rd in the EPL and lost in QFs to the eventual winner of the Champions, pushing them to extra time (no one else did).

Tuchel is doing well enough so far.

I bet most of that team have either gone or are due to leave in the coming weeks

They will still have the keeper , James , Mount , Kante / Jorginho ( not always starters ) ...

I know what musings means. It was a joke (90% of LA Vikings posts are questions).

Folks here have such a short memory, it is nuts. Tuchel led Chelsea to a third place finish while geopolitics beyond his and the players’ control nearly destroyed the entire club. There were issues with paying players and staff and uncertainty of the future. They couldn’t sell new tickets for matches. They couldn’t sign players. Tuchel handled all of that with grace and aplomb.

Yes it sucks that he feels compelled to keep playing Jorginho as the deepest lying midfielder, who sets tempo but can’t consistently make forward passes and can’t run. Thus he plays three CBs to cover for that, which allow him to get an extra man in midfield via the wingbacks, but clog passing lanes out approaching the channels and limit the opportunities for folks like Pulisic and Havertz to receive the ball in threatening positions. But as long as Chelsea keep winning, that formula works just well enough not to abandon it. And he played Pulisic in 5 different positions last season. That means Tuchel wants him. The idea that Christian is going to change clubs three months before the WC is insane. Some posters don’t seem to understand how carefully CP has managed his own career.

So excited to know I plan to have the exact same tactics as Tommy T with my 5-6 graders this season.
