I was analyzing this over the weekend, part of the problem is our network communication. You look at some of the sporting directors and their relationship to scouts, agents, and the players. They have developed their network very well. We might have scouts but our network is not developed. We do not know how to build those and keep those relationships with clubs. At this point I would go for signing the young Brazilian Vitor Roque from Paranense.
This is me trying to be optimistic about the Rabiot signing… We’ve cheaply upgraded the midfield. The difference in quality between Rabiot and McT is huge. The signing is even better if we get another CM in. Maybe someone like Fabian Ruiz so that the Rabiot signing is just a depth piece to make up numbers in midfield. Or at the very least, if Rabiot is plan B to De Jong maybe this frees up some cash to spend bigger on an attacker like Antony or Sesko which we desperately need. Me being realistic… We’re run by Woodward 2.0. We got played by FDJ and never lined up a plan B, so now at the last minute we’re panic buying Pogba without the upside because our scouting department can’t find anyone better.
this was not what i had in mind when trying to avoid 17+39 combo. not convinced this is what ten Hag has in mind either. these don't seem like the "give me the maximum" types he likes. honestly hoping this Arnautović crap goes away. he's not that good and will be another dead weight we'd be stuck with for the length of his contract +1
Last I looked, that was rumored but not advanced. Maybe that’s changed. But Ruiz was just an example.
Sesko off to Leipzeig, but mainly because they agreed to loan back for a season before he joins in 2023.
Seems like it shouldn’t be legal to do what the RB organization does. It’s essentially insider trading. They take lesser fees for other RB clubs just to keep the success in the family. Welp, I can see us making a late push for Antony now and paying way way too much.
Tancredi is saying that Juve were basically willing to give Rabiot away because he’s been poor and has the second highest wages on the team. Apparently across Europe this was common knowledge as well and they are shocked United were willing to pay 18 mil for him. We’re really good at this whole transfer thing.
I get that she’s proven to be difficult, but the way the media treats her is a joke. Every article talks about how wages have to be agreed with his mom. Sometimes they mention she’s the agent, sometimes they don’t, but they always mention that it’s his mom. Neymar’s dad is his agent, they don’t call that out every time. It’s a joke.
It is a transfer hospital pass, they are very keen to get rid. I bet his mum runs rings around Murtough and we end up with a disruptive, bang average player on high wages / long contract we wont be able to shift. He didnt look all that in either the French or Italian leagues and is one of those CMs nobody really knows what he is good at. Big ? over how he will adapt to EPL. There is nothing considered about this at all - it is a low fee gamble / panic buy pure and simple. What little money we have down the drain again.
He's an all arounder. He is another player thats supposed to be comfortable receiving the ball in deeper positions and progressing the ball. Im sure one of those stat geeks will post links to prove me wrong. At the end of the day, he's an upgrade on McFred. All the articles posted over the last 24 hours allude to our players lacking self belief. Rabiot and Arnautovic are on the other end of the spectrum. They probably have as much belief in their abilities as Ronaldo does in his own.
I suggest talking to some Juve fans or having a look over at the Juve board - they want him gone as not good enough for them.
Besides the annoying mom, high wages, and that fact he is not FDJ level, what's the downside of Rabiot? Like benni said, he's sure an upgrade over McFred. He's still within the France NT picture, so one would think he would try to play himself into the WC squad. I see the news and post about his expiring contract and Juve about to let him go for free, yada yada. I really don't care about the finances anymore; it will be years for our recruiting/scouting to ever get fixed. I just want midfielders that can play so I don't have to worry about our team losing possession under little pressure in the midfield like a U13 Boys team.
🚨 Adrien Rabiot wants to join Manchester United. Talks over personal terms with his agent and mother have begun.(Source: @LaurensJulien) pic.twitter.com/xdPVOzrQXb— Transfer News Live (@DeadlineDayLive) August 8, 2022
See the comparison between scott McTominay and Adrian Rabiot Last season Moving from frying pan to fire #ManUnited is a joke https://t.co/TypbWKIcyb pic.twitter.com/Dgld0ijoJQ— #TenHagOut (@Manutd_Gist) August 8, 2022
Rabiot is a poor signing if the goal is just to get us numbers in midfield. Rabiot is a disastrous signing if he's the plan B to De Jong.
Just to build on what I posted earlier about the RB organization transfers to other RB clubs being criminal...apparently Sesko is off to Liepzig for 25 mil. Reliable reporters said United were offering 40 mil. Its clear to me they force players through the ranks there. The only other explanation for that fee is that they dropped it to allow how to stay at Salzburg another year. But then why would they agree that fee? They'll surely get more for him next season.
The journalist that broke the Rabiot story said he was always a transfer target as he fits the profile whether we brought in FDJ or not. The target was before the loss against Brighton.
Cuts both ways … Flip side, EPL is a far more demanding league and he was considered poor in a weaker league in a better team. At least with the likes of Neves / Tielemans etc. you know they can cut it in the EPL. Reminder - the Spurs fans campaigned to stop the club signing him a few years back …
Bro stop it. Its more demanding, physically. Technically? Is it much more demanding? I mean we finished 2nd and then 6th with Mctominay. Jordan Henderson makes a living in this league. Fabian Delph made a living in this league.
