Chelsea have offered 70m euros (£59m), plus 31-year-old Spain left-back Marcos Alonso, for Barcelona and Netherlands midfielder Frenkie de Jong, 25

Chelsea have spent 58m (Cucurella) ,50m (Sterling ),34m (Koulibaly), 16m (Chukwuemeka), 8m (Slonina).

So that's over 160 m so far and they're thinking about another 59m on de Jong?

Watching Jadon Sancho continue to be absolutely invisible just adds fuel to my “Haaland isn’t going to be the game changing monster that everyone expects” take

United get help from var after Dalot elbows a ball into the goal. Somehow var misses it. Now 2-1 to Brighton who will contrive to lose this to Ronaldo at the death.

There were quite a number of United fans over the summer who were very concerned that Liverpool had overpaid for Nunez. Very concerned they were, because they had very little else to be concerned about.

despite Paul "born in Salford" tierney doing what he could - man United LOSE to Brighton on opening day at OT.

these are not worthy Bangkok cup trophy winners.

I think Haaland is much more central and direct. He will still score.

Sancho is a winger - because he was tearing it up for Dortmund and scoring a lot in Germany for some reason people who had never seen him before thought he was some winger with electric pace. Turns out that wasn't true. He's a nice player but not a super star worth 75 million (or even 85 as they first were supposed to pay).

Chelsea and Farce-alona are trying to outdo each other in the financial suicide sweepstakes.

Announcers are going ********ing nuts over Haaland scoring a penalty after the west ham back up keeper brainlessly fouls him in the box on a ball that would have gone out.

The replay made it worse - areola had no reason to rush and try to stop that - even if Haaland got there he wouldn't have been in a good spot to shoot. Most likely he would have carried it out.

Brilliant through ball from De Bruyne for Haalands second goal. Too easy.

This City side would have wiped the floor with yesterday’s Liverpool.

Yesterday's Fulham would have given Shitty a game, unlike WHam.

And if we'd have played like we did when we played City in the Comm Shield we'd have walked it vs Fulham. We were just not the races on Saturday unfortunately.

    It happens.

god almighty .... the desperation continues ....

Manchester United have had a bid of around 9 million euros for Bologna’s Marko Arnautovic rejected.

Surely adding another malcontent to a dressing room that seems to have chemistry issues won’t backfire

He's a very good player, but better than Mane? Mueller or Gnabry... not yet....
