Does anyone know what the rules are at this moment for visitors to enter Qatar when it comes to covid-19? Is being double vaccinated not enough?
From 2018, the new fan ID system came, and you have to scan it along with the ticket for entry into stadiums. And 2022, the residents fan ID approval is different from international fans, so it is easy to identify residents and international fans since the approval system itself is different. So can they check and restrict entry for Cat4 tickets ? Yes , very easily. Will they do it ? It’s any bodies guess. we will have to wait and see when tournament begins.
Detailed rule can be found here. https://covid19.moph.gov.qa/EN/travel-and-return-policy/Pages/default.aspx This is the official portal, it’s has not been updated in a while, but the rules are as per the last update
Does it really matter? Whatever the current requirements they are likely to be different in 3 months when it will matter to the people in this forum. Isn't anyone else tired of all the speculation on a topic that speculating about does nothing? Just sit back and wait, all will be made clear in due time.
This is not really the forum for it, but you are stepping into an area that you seem to know little about. As I wrote before, I suggest that you check out the TV forum here in Big Soccer. Otherwise, you and others who might be interested can read on. The article you posted discussed television coverage of the 1978 World Cup in the USA, not in Mexico, nor in other countries. Televisa is a Mexican television network. They used to be a virtual monopoly in Mexico, and still are the most popular network in Mexico, although the much newer TV Azteca has made inroads with their 2 main over-the-air channels. Televisa has, and has had for decades, several over-the-air channels in Mexico. As the article you posted mentions, Televisa was also the primary investor in the Spanish International Network, which was branded as the unintentionally funny "SIN." The other main investor in SIN was Venevision, one of the primary over-the-air television channels in Venezuela. SIN was a joint venture Spanish language channel broadcast in the USA. They showed a lot of novelas from their parent companies with channels in Mexico and Venezuela. They also showed soccer games in the USA, including the World Cup and the Euro. It was kind of funny, because their main broadcast team included Tony Tirado and, later, Jorge Berry. Because most of the games they showed on SIN were not shown on any other channel in the USA, they would throw in brief commentary in English every now and then. Tirado spoke little English but Berry spoke English very well. It seemed that they were well aware that large numbers of English speakers were watching. SIN eventually was rebranded as Univision in the late 1980's. It is my understanding that Televisa still is the primary owner of Univision because they share a lot of programming. For example, there is a TUDN cable/satellite channel in Mexico too, that has slightly different programming content than the USA version of TUDN, even though they are both Univision/Televisa properties. Sky Mexico (the satellite service in Mexico) is also a Televisa property. The above is all from memory, so hopefully all of the details are correct.
They just get the final approval promptly since no need to book accommodation. No conditional approval step. When comparing quickly the Hayya card of a resident to mine (I am still conditional), I noticed that the hayya card number of the residents starts with the letters QI while mine (International fan) starts with FI I cannot see any other visual differences, maybe I am mistaken
I know the 1982 World Cup like the back of my hand. I even kept a private diary with newspaper clippings, which I still have today. Germany had an organised, physically strong side - Brazil a perfect machine up front and chaos behind. That didn't end well against Italy. German football changed a few years later (1990) and with the 2006 World Cup football changed again. He found his coronation on July 8 and July 13, 2014.
This is great news! And I agree, they better or should change the hours for the WC. Like others on here, have a 10pm game and an early flight to catch, so dropping off luggage at the airport would be ideal! Thanks for the news on this!
The questiion is not that if they differentiate the local and international fan ids, the question is will they differentiate the tickets themselves (I mean Cat1,2,3 - not 4). I highly doubt that.
I get the point of why we shouldn’t be speculating, but we don’t have anything to do until November comes around. We might as well have some fun until then
Just a thought... before you post or reply.. say to yourself: does what I'm about to say have anything to do with the topic of the thread? Cmon guys. Some basic posting discipline. Talking about teams, players, past or future world cups, etc.. there are so many other forums on bigsoccer here for all of those things. Ticketmaster 2026 Messis legacy TV rights from 1986 Cmon now.
Due time is now though. Some people may not want to book everything only to be told you need 4 shots to enter Qatar. This whole thing is a disaster. From accommodation, to flights, to alcohol laws, to covid requirements.
Nice history lesson but the point was that less than 50% of the matches were available at the source to be broadcasted. So just a simple question: can you confirm that all matches were being televised in Mexico in 1970, 1974 or 1978? No because they weren't. When I went to the World Cup in 1986, Mexicans were raving about how they could get tv access to so many matches for the first time. Before they were limited to matches deemed to be of interest.
Hi @Benyounes, I ended up doing my own scanner for the games I am interested. Does the discord one check every 40 seconds? I am doing mine every 10 seconds, did you get any throttling from the server? FIFA doesn't seem to have many security measures
To answer your original question.... Currently u need a neg PCR and to be "fully" vax'd which to them seems to be with a booster (or recent 2nd dose). I'm surprised they would require boosters, yet alone a potential 4th. But this is what is on the official site. It definitely won't get more strict, and most everyone believes they will reduce restrictions.. but for the meantime: By defintion you need a booster or to have 2nd dose recently. (I'll just manually add the booster in the app/card if that's the case) "Documentary requirements for non-residents of Qatar - In addition, fully vaccinated (i.e., those who received a third COVID-19 shot or who had a second dose within the last 9 months) and recovered (within the last 12 months) "
Do folks think there will be a bigger drop tomorrow morning given some potential accumulation over the weekend? Trying to avoid waking up so early
Hi how are you? I think that if the drops for popular natches are not big, is impossible tu us get a ticket, the automatically purchase bot always win…
As others have mentioned, you brought up this topic that is not really relevant to this thread and keep pushing inaccurate historical information. I will say it again, you should take it over to the TV forum, if you want to learn more. Others who have no interest, need not read further. What you posted is not accurate for Mexico. I explained that in my first reply to your post, when you brought it up. Go back and look where I mentioned that the Sky Mexico satellite service (on their exclusive channel "Fut", which has since been discontinued) rebroadcast every single World Cup game since 1962 several years ago. The broadcasts were from Televisa with the original Mexican TV commentary. They were shown on Mexican TV. The 1962 games were via tape delay. The others had en vivo via satelite logos. I recorded a bunch of them to keep in my library, including all of the Brazil games with Pele, etc. And the 1974 Holland games with Cruyff, etc. Now, you may be right about Canadian TV. But you were treating it as if it was the same around the world. That is not accurate.
