Once Fred left the field Maguire started playing. And once McT left the field Maguire played even better.

    That midfielder is so crucial.

How does Rashford stays on the field and Sancho is taken off?

It bothers me that we were linked with Caicedo but decided not to sign him when he went to Brighton. He would start in our midfield any day.

I saw people making gestures at EtH at full time. SMH. This will be a process. The ownership needs to know his as well.

    Send Scotty to Roma, please.

Can we talk about Rashford, though?

It's only our first match. We can't have this already. ;)

He's young and learning his craft. He's one of our own, United through and through

Perform or piss off. Time to stop giving big salaries as charity.

Nothing much in the post-match, just what you would expect. Way too soon to expect anything in the way of hints at throwing the players or owners under the bus.

    Sure.

Honestly the first miss, imo was a great save imo.

The 2nd miss, left foot full volley, was not an easy chance.

He needs to be carried at the moment. Im willing to wait because:

    1. Would rather him than Elanga. (Glad to see ETH picked Garnacho instead of Elanga.)

    2. I think he will come back to a decent level.

Midfield has to be fixed first. We can be patient with him but he should get no preferential treatment over other players, none. I want to see Hannibal there, Garnacho there.

It's not even the misses, my guy. He looks unmotivated. No fire in the belly. He looked more eager to get involved on the barbershop show. Lol.

It's a long season and he will be needed but I was not too happy to see that.

I do agree 1000% with you about Elanga, though. I prefer Garnacho get that time.

Believe it’s the 4th consecutive PL opener that McT has started. Says everything about the ambition of the club. A few positive signs to grasp onto in the second half but until there’s real movement to make meaningful and lasting improvements to the squad level it’s just going to be varying degrees of crap.

I'm a big Rashford fan, and I agree. He hasn't looked hungry in over a year. Not sure what it is. Maybe from a lack of scoring? Something personal going on in the background? Not the same player. Whatever it is, I hope he can snap out of it.

If for nothing else, Fred and McT, get benched next week or they're the ones who get called up with only 6 to 10 minutes left in the game to send a message that playing like dog crap is unacceptable that's when I will give Heisenbergs stunt double some credit.

Waiting for someone to say it is just one game.

Most worrying thing for me is that it relly isnt - was a near carbon copy of all the same problems from last season with the same personnel. So just a continuation.

Am hoping the subs an indication of where EtH thinking - ie Fred / McT first two off, Eriksen back in midfield once we have a starting striker fit / available. Some minutes for Garnacho etc.

His selection for next game is huge, some heads must roll from that starting 11 based on those performances.

Board must back him with one or two signings in next few weeks too.

It's like Fred and McT were paid-off by Barca or FDJ to make sure United say we will eat the 17 million.

I'll say this: by far the biggest weakness of ten Hag is subbing. Just way too late most times. Also a lack of Plan B (or recognition that Plan A isn't working).

Totally neutral observer here who is making probably very obvious points but couldn't believe the level of talent. I haven't watched a ton of you guys the last few years admittedly.

Another very obvious point: Looks like lots to improve but getting de Jong would fix a lot for you all.

I can vouch for you. I have run into you on the Ajax thread.

Never notice a substitution policy because as soon that interest is not so dominant so it never mattered but a person who subs late is going to be a concern

McFred midfield kills us every season, Good CM combo will overlay lot of maguire shaw shi8. Was pessimistic and will until we add 2 CM and CF. Shaw Maguire Dalot needs be moved on as well. So many fecking holes that need filling. ETH needs backing from top otherwise get ready to be new arsenal.

I don’t think so. I think we may see it early on (hopefully even today was the last time) but EtH will finally put Old Yeller down to bed.

Karen Carney makes that point in this. Hard to disagree with anything said by Gaz, Roy, Micah and Karen tbh
