Big Congrats to Jebo for getting the game-typing goal. I thought the assist came from Gregus, but Danielle said it was Espinoza. Is that right?

 

And does JT have a concussion? Did anyone confirm that?

doesn’t matter. If he’s taken out of a game because of a suspected concussion he’s on the protocol and couldn’t possibly be playing (or even working out) today.

 

At beginning of game he was listed as out because of one. Edit: (or at least a suspected one)

 

I thought it was a pretty good game. Austin lucked into their goals... we lucked into 1 but 2 were quality. If we had any 1v1 defensive capability we would have won that game.

 

Quakes earned late draw against Portland on recently-acquired Alan Gordon’s first goal for us.

 

I was in a Zen mode throughout. Like the team’s fight. Austin FC is a collection of punks.

 

I know - low bar - it's a tie, but I was really impressed with the way the team fought tonight under difficult conditions - 3 days rest, hot and humid, almost no squad rotation, not even a sub until 78'?! And we somehow didn't seem to lag in effort, and in fact at the end we looked like the team more likely to win, with the crowd hushed - all dressed up in green with no place to go. It was sublime. If Skahan could have hit decent crosses with his couple of opportunities late we might have won.

That's a game that could have easily gone south in a hurry after that early Austin goal. They score lots and lots of goals, we're playing on tired legs with virtually no squad rotation, and it's hot and humid. It could have very easily been one of those "Almeydan" 6-1 losses.

 

Good game. Of course a point doesn't help us and it probably doesn't hurt Austin. At least we got a fun game.

 

Love sending the opposition fans unhappy - see Nashville also. They had nothing to cheer about in that 0-0 game that we completely let the air out of. Just sitting there - but hey, they got to break out their yellow gear!

Besides sending the other fans home unhappy, I just want to see decent soccer. Forget about the playoffs, just play decent soccer. I think on the whole we played pretty well under the circumstances and our attack was pretty good the whole game.

 

I noticed towards the end of the game that Danielle Slaton mentioned how tough it is to be Captain when you’re not playing well, making it hard forJackson to motivate the team. If she can notice it, why can’t Covelo?

To my mind, Jackson has been the worst player on the team for the last 4-5 games. Even worse than Cade because JY commits so many turnovers.

 

I think the guy could use some rest. How about Niko in for JY one of these games? Could be Grey Goose too but I'd rather see Niko in there. Or they can split the time.
