What is the source of capology?

In any event, the source i was sceptical of was the screenshot from Sportbible which also appeared in other trashy media. I haven't found any mainstream sourcing for those numbers.

What the Independent* did report in some detail, is that de Jong's base salary is in fact 14m per year / 270k p/w

But in 2020 he deferred all but 3m, in return for a 2 year extension - so basically a lot of payments are being delayed into the backend of his contract, which is how you arrive at such a high number

As for Demeble, his contract expired on June 30 - in what way was he blackmailed? (I agree they tired to force him to leave last season but there is no market for the player).

My understanding is his contract is heavily performance incentivised and no doubt includes some free agency payments (this suits both parties to protect the asset value). It's also only a 2 year contract.

Having had a look around, it seems there are competing claims as to the nature of the deal but it seems highly unlikely to me that is basic is anything like the claimed number, Especially as no other elite team seemed interested in the player.

Of course if Barca have a deep CL run and earn 100m in CL rev, all the players will do very well on bonuses but that will also be positive for Barca under next year's cap calculation

    * source of this is Marca, so again could be exaggerated.

We won't find out officially until the next numbers are published, but we do know they reduced it from over 500m to more like 400m last season

I agree with the Athletic reporting that Laporta is taking the least worst option.

They were already insolvent. Might as well go for broke and try to grow their way out of it.

If they succeed, by getting revenues back near where they were, then they can finance their debts

If they collapse, then they can start again.

What won't work, is turning into Arsenal with mediocre players like Depay because then they can't finance their debts anyway after commercial and sporting revenues collapse.

Personally I think this ends with the privatisation of Barca by corporate interests and some kind of farcical super league.

Indeed I am pretty sure that is why the same kind of money has arrived at Chelsea.

Yeah, heard the guys on XM talking about Barca driving home last night. Barca asking for a loan against their CL monies = Super League ideology. "We deserve it due to our brand power! We're too big to fail! Save us!"

They claim that if they’ve marked a salary with a green check mark (which they have with any of the Barça players we’ve been discussing), then the number came directly from the club or player’s agent, or has been independently verified by two additional sources after it was reported elsewhere. Now, of course I don’t have any way to corroborate their claims, but they’re selling data services to teams and agents, so I assume they aren’t completely full of shit.

That Sportbible tweet appears to be a screen grab from Capology, which I assume they had permission to use.

Fulham were up 1-0 until Darwin gets an equaliser. Was a nice goal but was poor defending from Fulham in the build up.

Mitrovic wins a penalty by dribbling past VVD in the box. Funny Pool claiming no contact when VVD flicks a leg out and they bang knees as Mitrovic runs past him.

    And Fulham up 2-1.

And just like that, Fulham with more poor positioning and Salah gets the equaliser.

    2-2.

Pool not that impressive, and against a better team I think Pool would be down 2 or 3.

    Thanks for the info

Playing with the marca numbers it reconciles with capology for de Jong once you include deferments bonuses etc

So these might be max numbers?

So for example dumbeles base pay for cap calculation could be quite a bit lower but he gets a free agent payment, incentives etc

Yes, very likely, I’d say, but regardless Barça haven’t been as successful at reconciling their wage bill with the league calculation as your reports have claimed, which is the whole point.

Four games on today at 10:00am ET and not a single one of them on USA Network. I really hadn't been paying too much attention to TV contracts but it seems the (Pea)cock block has gotten stronger this season as far as the Premier League is concerned. #moneygrab

it's because USA (nbc) is committed to showing the women's golf tourney from the uk. in years past, with nbcsports, it wouldn't be an issue. of course, they could use another channel for the football, but why do that when you can bury it on to streaming services?

Wouldn’t it make sense to put golf on their golf channel? Or is that too niche s channel?

Force people to subscribe to Peacock by scaring them into thinking this'll be how it is every week?

    I'm still holding out.
