Not just being contrarian because I agree, Glazers out and all. But…if the club’s new attitude is about not just signing players but signing the right players, how important is it how much has been spent? If we added the proposed DeJong money to that total, would it make it more satisfactory? Based on the signings, EtH’s fingerprints are all over those that have been brought in and proposed brought in. Can we really say it’s things being the same? Does the complications surrounding the DeJong transfer not play in to the thought process? Can United fans really expect the club to move around like other “top” clubs?

I am just thinking out loud here.

On top of that, some journalists are starting to get wind that ETH wanted to sell Ronaldo and Joel Glazer blocked it because of his commercial value. If there's any truth to that, ETH's tenure is ********ed before it even begins. Same goes for any manager with them in charge.

Malacia was EtH signing and regardless of Shaw v Telles opinions, Shaw wages make him impossible to move.

So writing on wall for Telles as soon as Malacia signed.

Not sure if EtH playing him at CB & mid was genuine attemps to find him a backup role as a rare (for us) leftie or just plugging gaps in pre-season games.

if we can't land the big target which looks increasingly likely as the days go by at least try get some of the smaller ones.

get Doom Freeze in at ~€30m to increase quality at fb. loan someone in midfield or attack. do something at least.

transfer momentum is zero and has been for a while

    Not strong enough
    Not fast enough
    Terrible defender

Left foot is the only thing he has, and good that he can cross really well without having to beat a man.

But its not good enough to overlook his other deficiencies.

Malacia already appeara to beat him for physical attributes. Malacia also looks like he enjoys defending and duels.

Telles used to look likehe was never ready.

    Wow Cronaldo !!

He seemed to be going out but nobody was interested..

Suddenly Martial pulls his hamstring and Sancho gets poorly and he will be starting against Brighton apparently

Thanks guy, I appreciate it. I think it wasn't until I became a coach myself, in a different sport, that I started looking at philosophies of coaches in all kinds of different sports. One of the things that I really latched on is what they do at Ajax is popular within the Dutch system that lvg did. You keep your squad thin and go with about 23 to 25 guys. That's two deep in each position, a third goalie then it's a swiss army knife kind of guy in the midfield that can play defensive mid and center back or fullback and another guy that can play in the midfield and attack. From there if you have any serious injuries then you're to call up your young players. If you're a young players aren't ready then what is your academy doing and what is it good for?

Let's not forget that it was in the LVG era that we stumbled upon Rashford because Keane was injured. And if we go back to SAF that's how we found guys who were spot starters and helpful like Kiko Maceda, Paddy McNair, Kieron Richardson, and even a Darren Gibson who are helpful for a couple of seasons or part of the season and then sold because they were better with other clubs or they were now ready for more time than we could give and weren't worthy of being more than a squadie for our team. Plus when does squad is minimalist like that it keeps guys motivated cuz it only takes one turned ankle or a loss of form and you're in. But look at how buried guys like Lingard, Bailly, Donny etc were. It's best to run lean.

The Glazers' failure are beyond the transfers. It is the way the club is structured for them to put one person that runs it the way they want.

I get pissed when we say the Glazers only spent a net of 45 million this summer. We spent in the past 10 years as much as any other top 10 club bar City and PSG.

I cannot state enough how I don't want captain racismo on my team.

He's not what we are looking for. EtH wants a left footed RW who understands positional play. I think Ziyech would be fine if the price was right. TT can't seem to get a tune out of any of his attackers, I don't think they are all trash. EtH has history with Ziyech too AND he's not just a lefty RW, he is a good dribbler and an excellent passer. He'd give us a goal threat and another set piece and allow us to play JS on the left. If the price was 20-25M I'd take him in a heartbeat.

He made the dumbest play I've EVER seen against Rayo. He was backpedalling width of the box facing the man with the ball and with nobody to stop ball, he decided the danger was the man all the way on the flank who DID NOT have the ball. Easily the worst decision I've seen a defender make. Like, if the guy out wide had the ball it would have been a bad decision, but he basically said, here you go, have a free path to the goal.

Pulisic is a huge MAGA guy.

We can agree to disagree on Ziyech. Personally I like Garnacho/Amad/Shoretire/Hannibal and I hope 1 or 2 of them will be a regular starter in 2 or 3 years time so a 29yo for cheap who can raise the technique of our attack who wouldn't need half a season to get used to the system is a good move imo.

The problem is I think if we don't get some help somewhere, we run the risk of missing out on CL next year and 2 years without CL football is bad unless we plan for it.

A team with Ronaldo, De Gea and Varane's wages on the books is not a team to be out of the CL in consecutive years.

If we wanna hit the reset button and drop all of them, fine. Take your time and build but we can't finish 15 points off of 3rd without at least building for the future. Ziyech + a quality 6 makes me confident we have a shot at top 4 and we might just miss but I don't want EtH to get fired because we didn't give him any backing.

We have a better shot of winning the Europa League than a top four finish if we hope to return to the UCL.

Marinakis raiding Man U still. Possibility of Pellistri to Olympiacos on loan. Right now, he could probably start.

The post in question advocated for antifacists to be shot. Wanting to shoot people who are against Nazis isn't a red flag, it is THE red flag.

Apparently in an interview Redknapp says that he’s spoken with someone at “the very very top at United” and he says they’ve been informed that De Jong wants to join Chelsea if he leaves Barca.

Who knows if Redknapp is just spouting shit, but at one point a move for De Jong seemed 80% likely to happen and now I would put it at about 20%.

So do a little thought experiment. Why, would ANYONE anywhere remotely important at United, talk to Redknapp about a transfer that is currently being negotiated?

It is one thing for working journalists to get tips. They get tips because they do favours for people ITK from time to time like leaks/briefings or holding something they uncovered back a bit. But Redknapp? Who would tell him anything? What would they gain? EtH isn't even admiting we are after FdJ.
