Red stars have them a new Coach:

    https://www.chicagoredstars.com/post/chris-petrucelli-named-as-new-chicago-red-stars-head-coach

    Great hire!

As some of you know I am also a Notre Dame soccer fan as as well. I remember when Chris Petrucelli was the head women's coach in South Bend. Won the 1995 NCAA Championship with Shannon Boxx and Kate Markgraf (Sobrero).
He has also been involved with the USWNT program for years. Has lots of connections.

From things I have heard/read he is well liked by both players and colleagues, well respected. This IMO is a good hire to move the team forward away from the Dames turmoil.

Well, the Chris Petrucelli era starts off with a win.

I was somewhat nervous as what we will see, but as the game progressed I was pleasantly surprised. The Yuki - Pugh combination will be exciting to watch. Will it be just like the Yuki - Kerr combo we saw a few years ago? We don't know, but for Red Stars fans just the thought of it gets you excited for the season.

The new kids on the team did well. I was happy to see that. Maybe Petrucelli and the coaching staff have a more soothing, confident affect on new kids which doesn't make them scared to make a mistake.

It's only one game, but what I saw yesterday gave me a good feeling about my team.

Aargh ... Tierna Davidson tore her ACL in practice last week and is out for the season. That is a bummer for Chicago and fans and for the USWNT and fans.

Red Stars can't catch a break. Every year significant injuries.

Got back yesterday from Florida where I went to the Pride vs Red Stars game last Sunday.
Good win for the Red Stars. Mal Pugh is a Superstar. She can score at will. We Red Stars fans are lucky to have had and seen such players as Sam Kerr and Mallory Pugh.

Yuki and Mal Pugh have a connection just like Yuki and Sam Kerr did.

IMO, the CRS coaches are preparing these players well and you can see just by their movements with and without the ball.

Just have to tighten up that defense a bit, especially when you do defensive subs.

I am a Season Ticket Holder of both the men's pro team and women's pro team in Chicago.
In my opinion, at this time there is only one team that is worth watching and cheering for in this soccer loving city of Chicago.

One team is buying international stars thinking money will bring them wins. One team is playing with half of it's starters out all season due to injuries, maternity leaves, you name it.

One team is currently last in it's division playing awful, ugly soccer. The other team is one point behind first place playing attractive, wonderful to watch soccer.

I am almost reluctant to ride the often crowded, disgusting trains to watch that mess being played at Soldier Field. I however look forward to every game being played at SeatGeek stadium in Bridgeview.

The Red Stars have surprised everyone. With much of their team gone for the season, the young rookies with a mixture of a few still healthy veterans have managed to keep getting points game after game especially after all the turmoil of last year. They play with heart and grit, even on 2-3 day game to game rests. The "new" coaching staff is doing a phenomenal job of managing game strategy and time.

I know that there are those who may read my posts who have not returned this season to watch the Red Stars but probably have opted to go downtown instead to watch the men's pro team in this city hoping they will see something special this season, but all they are seeing is the same-ole, same-ole, losing, frustrations, nonsense, in my opinion.

I'm not saying it will last forever but if you are a pro soccer fan in Chicago and are not watching or following the Red Stars at this time are missing out on some fantastic play by a team that does not give excuses but plays every game with heart and grit and are just a joy to watch.

Oh yea, almost forgot. It doesn't hurt to have arguably the best player right now in NWSL on your team in Mallory Pugh. She is playing lights out!

Well, I was not able to go to our home game tonight :( but just watched on machine CRS play to a 0-0 draw against WAS Spirit - CRS is real time tied for second in the league (as measured by points). They are playing a decent mix of offense and defense (and great midfield, of course) to make it impressive. Go CRS!

friends of mine flew in last week to watch Metallica(presumably at Lollapallooza)
On my one visit to the Windy City(with my daughter) Miracle Mile got to be the shopping Mecca of the world! Riverfront & Old Navy Pier were pretty too, but felt Chicago a hit bland, could of used some tacky-ness(but that’s me whose lived NY/LV/NO)

Well we're already seeing at least one benefit: high-quality off-season training opportunities

Though, maybe in line with my previous post, it's telling that said high-quality off-season training opportunities aren't local
