IDV has a Belgian connection. I think the same agency represents the IDV players that have been transferred there (and Nilson Angulo). It wouldn't surprise me to see Jhoanner Chavez get transferred next. He's represented by the same agency I think.

Ordoñez won't get starting opportunities right away. Best scenario he follows in Pacho's footsteps.

It seems like Joel Ordoñez will start the season with Club Brugges U23 team.

John Mercado moved to Brazilian Serie B side CSA.

I saw him play in the Libertadores sub20. The kid has potential. I don't think going to Qatar is good for his development but money talks. Playing opportunities were gonna be hard to come by once Dominguez went back to Liga. Liga also has Gabarini and Falcon on the squad. Liga's finances are in a bad spot so I get the move. They need a reserve squad. They have a lot of young players coming up that need playing time. Playing Serie B would be food for their development.

We usually only see Qatar(and other Arabic) teams scout Brazilians at such a young age. It interesting to see them go for one of our guys. He has to be with out a doubt the youngest foreigner there. It only a loan and hopefully he gets playing time although our players dont tend to adapt well to that league. Im really confused as to weather this team is in 1st or 2nd division. I just hope he plays and comes back.

A lot of fans are complaining about the move. He wasn't going to have opportunities to play for Liga this season. He wasn't even gonna make the bench once the other GKs recover from their respective injuries. I'm sure Liga got some money for loaning him out. If he impresses and they buy him then Liga gets money. Given their financial situation it's no secret what their objectives are. They're looking to sell players so they can resolve their balance sheet.

If Qutar team picked him up so young they must want him as a long term signing. The thing is our players usually don't adapt well to that league and he will be the first gk we send there. Just really interesting to see how this plays out but I don't see him staying there tbh so I hope he gets playing time try to take advantage of the playing time he could get and I expect him to come back.

I'm not sure how many guys have passed through Qatar, but Carlos Tenorio was a huge success in Qatar. Regrettably, that is also where Chucho Benitez sadly passed away, but I'd assume he would have been a breakout hit there, too.

Qatar, UAE, and Saudi are great places to live, and the players are well taken care of. The only reason they fail is because nerves get to them and the they underperform because they get homesick and feel out of place in a country that practices the Islamic faith. The overall league quality in those nations is nowhere near the competitive level of play they'd see in LATAM (including MX), so from a skills perspective, they have all the tools at their disposal to succeed...and make bank in the process. They choose to not expand their horizons/mindset, and they're shipped back home. Sometimes coaches don't favor the player, but I don't see or hear of coaching turnover on those squads as we do in the Americas either.

Tenorio has been the only exception. Everyone else we sent there had some what of a very short stay there. There was Felipe Caicedo, Fernando Gaibor, Armando Wila, Carlos Feraud, Jaime Ayovi, Segundo Castillo, Ivan Hurtado probably more but I cant remember. These are all players that were expected to preform but none of them really reached expectations there. Not even Felipe do to Injuries but he also wasnt comfortable there which is why he wanted to go back to Spain. Gaibor and Feraud were heavily criticized when they were there. Ayovi had the most success but got injured. Wila I remember him scoring then not getting called/ ridding bench I dont think he got injured or ever saw a reason for him to get benched the way he did. Everyone else I cant really remember much of their time there. It may also be the high expectations for them to preform as foreigners that plays a negative effect on them.

"High" pressure in small markets/teams - to me, I can't understand how that happens when some of these guys were coming from larger markets and teams that sometimes even competed internationally. End of the day, I think it boils down to mindset. The same thing with China - how our guys can underperform there is beyond me. Many of our lads are playing football as a career and will never make it to the NT, but these international transfers provide an opportunity to cash-in and save lots of money so they can secure futures after football....somehow they still fumble the bag.

La Yoya scored 8 times in 15 matches with Al Nasser....but he was injured for 8 months during his loan. Not a bad goal tally, to be honest. He would have been on track to net 15-20 goals during a full season if he wasn't sidelined.

Having been to the Middle East several times for work and spending many weeks in these countries, I can personally attest to how different they are. Saudi is a very conservative and insulated country, Qatar is conservative, but has some openness for western-friendly norms/behaviors, and the UAE is basically like living in Miami with stricter laws. That being said, everything from language, culture, and religion are so vastly different than what our guys are used to, and their lack of global awareness makes them susceptible to being intimidated or simply feel so out of place that they crawl back into their shell and eventually get shipped back to whoever held their contract or negotiated to another team on a new loan.

I guess it expected everywhere whenever a player occupies a foreign slot and salary on any team in any league. Fernando Gaibor for example got heavily criticized in Argentina and Dubai. He was and expensive high salary player in both teams and didn't meet expectations in either.

I can only hope Lenin Ayovi gets some playing time and returned to Liga.

Good move for him. He'll play first division ball. He got off to a good start last season. There was even talk of him being called up to the NT but Las Palmas didn't want to release him because of the covid pandemic or something like that. Hopefully he takes advantage of this opportunity and does well.

Liberman Torres to Villarreal II. He's going there on a free transfer. He can play as a CB and center mid.

In his 30s and maintaining NT retirement means his only objective is securing his financial future....good for him. It's a $5M annual contract in a country that does not pay salary taxes.

Back when he was playing well for Lazio I thought there was a slim chance of him returning to the NT. Last season was a disaster for him. Now he's going to league that's mediocre. Props to him for securing a contract like that.

Yeison Bossa Racines is player to keep and eye on. It seems he has been in the Turkish second division, El Salvador and is currently in Armenia. He is 24 y/o and has 9 games 3 goals and 1 assist. He holds both Colombian and Ecuadorian citizenship couldnt find much more info on him.

I thought he had a decent chance of going to Europe.

MLS moved smart and fast and like always dropped a good amount of money. I just hope he does well and moves to Europe later on.

I was looking at all of IDV transfers. It crazy to see them make small transfers in the thousands to consistently getting millions now.

MLS isn't a bad option. While it may not be the Premier League or the Bundesliga, t's a competitive league nonetheless. Cincinnati isn't a good team though. With Cifu leaving, LAFC would have been a good option.

Jordy Alcivar is leaving MLS. His new club will be IDV. He got off to a solid start with Charlotte FC but he lost playing time when they switched managers.
