The other thing with Duran this weekend - wasn't he carrying a yellow into the second half? I wanted him to stay on a little longer and get some playing time with Guti out there but we've had more than a couple of games where Ezra left a young player out there to pick up a second yellow and I think it's best to err on the side of caution in a close game like Saturday's.

If Ezra is smart enough to make that decision (and I suspect he is) he also needs to manage the boy better when he comes off the field and let him know why and not fight him. Ezra needs to show the maturity Duran lacks.

He very well may have, we have no idea. At Duran's age, Ezra could have done everything correctly and it might not have had any impact at all- there are some kids that even the best coaches/teachers have trouble getting through to.

“I’m sorry I said that publicly even though it’s exactly how I feel.”

He’ll get over it. Nothing for us to care about here and past time to move on. It was a meaningless outburst.

I’m glad I’m old and not into social media, except BigSoccer. I wonder if my MySpace account still works?

Most people I've seen be idiots on social media are over 30.

In general, I think the whole thing with Duran is a bit overblown. Most of these guys come to MLS as a transitional period between home and Europe. Obviously he wants to leave, but he said it in the worst possible way.
People should be more pissed that the Fire held their meet the team event, basically a 2 hour line to get an autograph and maybe a picture, in the middle of the Red Stars game.

I totally agree, and my comment was obviously a joke.

The "meet the team" should always be a separate event. This sounded like a terrible idea.

If our new president Ishwara Glassman Chrein wants to reconnect with long standing fans, they should have another bar night (the players bartending was great), or another meet the team event at Enchanted Castle, still one of the greatest times I ever had.

When the Fire were at Toyota Park, I thought they should rent out Haunted Trails for the "meet the team."

By the way, how is film school going?

Not just a terrible idea, but an absolutely disgusting move to basically say that your sorry excuse for an "event" is more important than a women's soccer game between 1st and 3rd in the league.

Made the Dean's List last semester.
Finished my summer World Cinema class with a near-perfect grade.
Having a meeting with my advisor this week about graduation.
Working on having a few more scripts done in time for the start of the fall semester so I have more to work with in my portfolio review class. (Trying to finish at least another feature and pilot)

With Teran injured, is there any reason that Heitz is not on the ephone with John Brooks' agent right now? He has no club, is only 29 and won't require an international spot. He sports a Chicago/IL tattoo and would be a great excuse to get rid of Gaston if he requires DP money.

Things to watch on deadline day today:

-LA Galaxy making space to sign Riqui Puig from Barcelona
-FC Cincinnati working to sign Matt Miazga
-Minnesota United still in talks to sign Mexico int'l Jonathan Gonzalez

Offor to Montreal for 325k in GAM. Of course he’ll probably be a Golden Boot winner next season.

Im not sure if I should criticize Heitz for whiffing on a Latvian first division player whose transfer fee makes this a net financial negative, or give him credit for getting something and freeing up an international slot that wasn’t well utilized (by him). Maybe he’s learning? Kinda?

    Maybe. Hopefully.

Lord knows we need a decent (or better) CB, stat. Plug that gap quickly, Heitz.
