Smart move for DC United all things considered. They definitely need a goalie right now, and best case Ochoa turns out to be the guy and signs an extension at the end of the season.

I think this makes the US favorites for Balogun

    (comment from 2021)

What kind of production gets Balogun in the conversation for Qatar?

    He's a forward.

Has done little to nothing as a first team soccer player.

If he wasn't a dual-national, we wouldn't have much to say about him.
A soon-to-be 20 year old with three career goals (at Santos Laguna).

Not to say he doesn't have potential. There's just been no reason to think of him in connection with a USMNT callup. To date anyway. He was too old for our recent U20 CONCACAF Championships team and the upcoming U20WC.

Trivia stat about him is he was a teammate of Ricardo Pepi's with FCD's youth affiliate in El Paso.
They're good friends apparently. Crazy front line for a youth team outside of a major market.

He is the size of Ferreira and plays like him. I don't think there is room for him. At least, not for this cycle.

Speaking of forwards, and Pepi teammates...
21 year old Maurice Malone is a German-American dual nat at Augsburg who plays as a center forward...
What happens if he has more goals than Pepi going into the World Cup?

Can you explain more indepth why you think this? Has he shown any real interest in playing for the US? Can see if he's great buddies with mUSAh it could be easier to see him switch.

I think the England national team's interest in players drops a few orders of magnitude if they're not playing in the Premier League, whereas as long as he is playing and productive in a top five league I don't think that matters to the US.

The England fans I know think Jadon Sancho is a fraud and Jude Bellingham hasn't proven anything yet because he's only done it in Germany... they are hardly going to get excited by a player scoring goals for Reims in a 'Farmers league'...

Okay, so August 1st is the day I stopped doubting Vasquez. Let it be known, lol. Let's call him in.

I don’t think Mexico is going to push this cycle at least. For better or worse Tata is pretty locked into his three 9s for the World Cup.

Next cycle though might be a different story.

would be very valid anger. Vasquez has made one of the forward spots, for me. Hes knocking them in at the level an MLSer would have to in order to get into the picture.

Don't be so sure. Jimenez just got injured a few days ago. Mexico will probably take three CFs Jimenez (if he recovers in time), Funes Mori and... the best CF available.

JOGO is up for grabs, but he is not ready for the international game. His attacking game is tops but many have pointed out his defensive issues AND the fact, that he doesn't have recovery speed.

Tata Martino has basically already said he’s taking Jimenez, Funes Mori, and Santiago Giménez as his three forwards. Jimenez’s injury is not a long term one and he’s expected back in a couple weeks. Any of the 3 could of course get injured before the World Cup, but Vazquez appears nowhere near Mexico’s radar at current. Now that could very well change next year post World Cup under a new coach.

Looks to be longer. Wolves are looking for a replacement.

Wolves working on ‘loan signing’ to replace Raul Jimenez at Molineux (givemesport.com)

Based on his Twitter profile I'm guessing we won't land this kid Jonathan Pèrez...

On the subject of Galaxy homegrowns who chose El Tri, Efrain Alvarez...

And then belz gets me to change my mind again on scuffed. Just kidding, sort of. Only 12 touches a game? What do our other guys average? Sounds like Ferreira is 20+?
