What game did you watch? Chong killed a majority of our attacks. If we wanted someone that’s fast, does a lot of running, and produces nothing then we should’ve kept Dan James.

Read what I wrote about Chong and tell me where I said he produced anything?

He was at the end of a lot of attacks because he took up good positions. It was a very unpolished performance but Dan James doesn't get 3 or 4 shots in/around the box in a game against a deep block. He only gets chances in transition. Chong had a bad game executing but people let outcome cloud their impression of his game. He took shots from great locations and he kept getting those chances.

People watched a game where we created 2 or 3 clearcut chances and maybe had 10 good shots but we think the player with 3 or 4 shots in good locations was trash.

But hasn’t that been the issue with Chong for 3 years now? At some point, you have to realize it’s not a bad game, it’s just who he is as a player. Tons of speed, hard worker, gets in decent positions, can’t beat a defender, no end product, extremely wasteful. I don’t see a place for someone in the team that’s going to get in good positions, get the ball, and then give it away 9/10 times. There’s no value there.

You have some kind of agenda against a kid who cost almost nothing and you are beyond hyperbolic and I won't be engaging further.

I would love to know his passing percentage yesterday. It was a worse performance than Zoran Tosic, Gabriel Obertan and Bebe.

Because I disagree with your assessment of his game I have an agenda against him? Cmon now, you’re being ridiculous. And what does cost have anything to do with it?

Ok, let’s remove my apparent bias against the kid. Show me with stats where he’s been productive in the last 3 seasons…

In the championship with Birmingham - 1g and 3a in 20 games.

In Bundesliga with Bremen - 1a in 13 games

In Belgium with Brugge - 4a in 7 games (good return)

He’s only ever produced at a youth level. He wouldn’t be the first player that’s failed to make the leap to senior football. I don’t get how me pointing that out means I have a bias against him.

I don’t think you can give Chong credit for being in the right positions to get a proportionally decent number of shots, when he doesn’t have to deal with his supply line being passes from Chong.

I just think maybe Belgium or lower table Eredivisie is probably his limit. Something equivalent to youth level where he can be an athlete and swing a foot at it, and that’s passable.

So i took note of this moment as well.

This was after a spelk where we had not touched the ball for a bit. Initially ibwas upset, but i thought it was smart to let us settle and try and keep possession in that portion ofbthe game.

Having said that, its like Garner is scared to tell him to turn.

So Naboo, if we sell him who backs up the oft injured Martial?

Me: Chong is ultimately not going to make it at a club like United, but I'd be happy for him to stay this season. We'll need plenty of bodies and while his brain isn't quick enough for his feet or the ball, he's a left footed attacker who takes up great positions, is a tremendous presser and makes good pass vs shoot decisions.

Mizzou: Chong should die, I think he is evil.

    Me: you are overreacting.

    ----

On a more serious note, I may be doing the most. I'm tired. I've worked 44 hours since Friday night and I'm about to crash. Brain is melty, probably overreacting. Have a good one @MizzouMUFC

We can’t release Ronaldo and not get a replacement. We should definitely be looking to pick up a young striker in the sort of target man mould that ETH likes. But tbh we should be looking to make that sort of signing regardless.

If it requires that we loan someone like Šeško back for a season because Ronaldo’s staying (and to stop RB charging €55m which is preposterous) then I’m fine with that. But look at how we’ve used Amad and Mejbri as false 9s this preseason because we haven’t had Martial and Ronaldo at once. That’s a worry for me, if we aren’t entertaining the use of Rashford or Elanga there.
