I assumed this was based on the medical and contract signing still needing to be completed.

So I hear Carlos Teran might be out for a while. What's our CB depth at this point?

  4. Slim and none. If Pineda starts at CB primary backups would be Bornstein & Burks. Gimenez and Dre Reynolds would be emergency options.

Burks has not impressed me. Moreover I do not even think he is an average backup.

  7. I mentioned before he looked pretty good at RB in the Fire II match a couple of weeks ago. One hit wonder? Bought a clue? Finally healthy after a couple of nagging injuries plaguing him all season? IDK.

If Pineda plays at cb and Gaston at midfield, it won't be much of a drop off. Problem is fire are playing good teams this month. The problem as usual is going to be scoring for them, which continues to be an issue.

    Oh, please!

  14. We have trouble scraping together two competent healthy CBs and you want 3? I probably can't handle what you're smoking.

So you're suggesting Ezra could bring himself to change formation?

(Kasper was the third highest scorer in the league over the last three seasons, when playing in a two striker formation, and it hasn't happened yet.)

I do like the idea though.
    Not holding my breath.

I don’t think that Pineda, Rafa, and Bornstein would be bad in a back 3. I’m sure you could have Boris play on the right instead of Pineda.

Kacper and Duran up top. If Kacper drops deep, you could have Duran stretch the field.

    See post #1090.
He was third top scorer the last three seasons, but player with another striker.

So there was a rumor about signing a center back from one of the Scandinavian countries but it was thought he would only be a back up for depth. Suddenly we need a body stat! What happened with this?

    Or just traffic cone?

This Twitter thread claims Silkeborg wanted $1M and rejected Fire offer but that was before Teran pulled that hamstring making an awesome recovery sprint 130 yards to stop a final game losing goal. I feel bad for the kid but damn that was a gutsy run and made a difference in the result.

Salquist just wants to join a club with a kit manager who won't run his team shorts through the dryer after every wash making the ironed on numbers crack and peel like he's on a junior youth team.

  23. Hmmm . . . Trouble in paradise? Folks say Duràn threw a fit after he was subbed out Saturday.

I would remind the diva that he has three goals from 16 games, with two in the same game.

His scoring record is nothing to write home about for one of the best 100 young players in the world.

That said we are better with him out there than not. However, any offers should of be considered.

  25. Part of me agrees with you. The other part believes he's not unlike most 18 year olds who are prone to stupid emotional reactions. We, and about 150 others got to watch him play with Fire II. In that unfiltered venue it's obvious he is struggling in a way most 18 year olds do. Throw in high expectations and another country and it might be too much for him. Duràn and Gaga are the same age, but miles apart in maturity. The Fire would do well to fly in his momma, poppa, best friend & whomever else he needs for support. If they can't get him to settle in, their investment will be shot.
