There's a whole bunch of people SAYING it's been officially confirmed, but I can't actually find any official confirmation yet.
There it is. Match has been officially POSTPONEDWe will provide updates on new date when available. We appreciate everyone's cooperation tonight.— Charlotte FC (@CharlotteFC) July 31, 2022
Cool, get to replay the match in September when half our starting lineup is out for international duty.
.@FisherTyler__ reports that both teams will need to keep the rosters the exact same (no addition or subtraction of players)If a starting player is injured or unable to compete that will cost their respective team a substitution. #Crew96 #ForTheCrown— Massive Report (@MassiveReport) July 31, 2022 I don't have the energy tonight.
No--MLS is covered here. Re-read Law 7.5 above: "unless the competition rules or organisers determine otherwise". That's MLS and they did "determine otherwise".
https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/2022-mls-match-delay-postponement-cancellation-and-forfeiture-policy the relevant bits: "The recommenced match must restart on the same spot where the postponed match action occurred (i.e., free-kick, throw-in, goal kick, corner kick, penalty, etc.). If the match was stopped during the normal flow of the game, a dropped ball on the spot where it was postponed shall be used to restart. The club’s Official Match Rosters are frozen on the match recommencement day, subject to the exceptions below. No additional substitutes may be added to the list of players on the Official Match Roster. During the MLS Regular Season, any player in-play at the time the match was postponed, who is subsequently injured or unavailable due to a trade, loan or transfer before the resumption of the match and cannot participate can only be replaced by a substitute on the Official Match Roster of the postponed match (subject to the goalkeeper exceptions below). In the MLS Regular Season, such substitute will NOT count against a team’s normally allotted substitutions or one of their three substitution events." The parts where they talk about replacing someone who is injured or unavailable don't mention the possibility of someone not being eligible due to international duty. So does that mean they could not be replaced??? (If this game is indeed rescheduled during the international break.)
Not necessarily. The rule doesn’t mention international absences at all, so it might just be an oversight in the rule. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. Worst case, the team would have to burn some its substitutes.
Guessing Rule 7.5 is the law and this website is the "regulation" clarifying what the organizers otherwise decided.
In American football, and Basketball, when flagrant fouls occur after the whistle there are still penalties assessed. I think it should happen in soccer. That was a blatant, last defender stopping a free striker from going to goal foul. Everyone heard the whistle right after the foul; I and 30K Charlette fans were all like that's a bookable offense. Oh wait they called offsides, carry on then.
Why not play the game today? Charlotte Panthers have a home game on Sep 25. Will we have football lines and endzones for a match on the 24th? Even if Jimmy had to send a charter plane to pick the team up, today seems a much better choice than 2 months from now with who knows which players available.
Yes. Flagrant in terms of damage being done. Not for technical violations. No one gets called for holding AFTER a false start. A breakaway foul in basketball isn't called if the offensive player double-dribbles. You can't give a red card for a denial of an obvious scoring opportunity... if there IS NO GOAL SCORING OPPORTUNITY. And there can't be a goal scoring opportunity if the play is offside. And by the way, if someone had gone in cleats up or two-footed after the offside, a card absolutely would have come out.
It also doesn't mention suspension. But maybe a suspension in September wouldn't count because the player wasn't suspended in July??? I can see the logic in this being the case if it's a basic yellow card accumulations kind of suspension. But what if it's a several game suspension due to violent conduct, or something? Anyway, these rules are always more complicated to apply in real life than they appear on the page.
Christian Fuchs was serving a red card suspension last night. Since he wasn't on the gameday roster last night I guess he won't be eligible in September, meaning he will be eligible for their next game this week?
https://www.columbuscrew.com/news/s...match-against-charlotte-fc-to-resume-on-octob Wednesday October 5th at 7pm. 97.1 FM. TV details will be announced later on. I'd imagine it'll be Bally Sports Ohio. (The Guardians play at 4 on BSGL.) If you went, your ticket will be valid. If you can't make it back, the Charlotte FO will be in contact.
This is incorrect. I literally just got off of a conference call with the Charlotte ticket office. I'll be sending an email to all Crew fans who purchased through the Supporters Section link tomorrow. For the folks that didn't purchase through the Supporters Section link: Check with whoever you bought your ticket from.
And with St Louis joining next year, Nashville will probably stay in the West. If Expansion Team/Team #30 is, as rumored, in San Diego, Phoenix, or Vegas, then Nashville would probably move back East. (Please, Donnie G, no divisions; just keep it East and West!)
Booooooo! I want divisions, especially when they stop adding teams. At 30 you could do three 5 team divisions in each conference. Play home and home against the conference and either 6 games vs the 3 teams that finished in the same spot as you in your division from the other conference to stay at 34 games or rotate and play 1 entire division from the other conference each season every 3 years to get 38 games.
