There are some good teams at the top of Serie B. But I've seen a lot of Serie B in person. It's not a good league from top to bottom. There are always some good young Italian players popping up quickly throughout Italy. But in Serie B, the quality of the league drops off very quickly. Still, even when there is a lack of talent, it's intense. It's not a bad place for a young player to break in.

I am skeptical of Busio's WC chances this fall absent injuries to midfielders. Even last summer when Busio was doing well for SKC, I thought Williamson was a more complete CM and was better for the USMNT at the Gold Cup (it helped EW was older). With EW back from his injury, I still have the same comparison between players despite Busio making the jump. I don't think that much has changed, yet - but Busio has a nice upside long term if he improves defensively, and physically. If he works hard, he can improve in those areas and be a really good player. I just don't think he's gonna make that improvement in a few months. But hey, I can be wrong. There is a good chance neither EW or GB make the WC team.

Busio is another one who I see more for the 2024 Olympics. If he works hard and improves in the areas I mentioned above, it could be a good transitional tournament for him on the international level.

A local girl told me it's different between October and March. Empty, though cold and depressing.

It's his reality. Let him excel with this team this season and either help it earn a promotion or show he deserves to play in the top flight. He hasn't done that yet.

MNT opportunities can stem from that rather than engineering something club-wise based on some perceived entitlement to a spot in Qatar. I was big on his prospects when he made the move and I hope he succeeds, but he has to earn it.

The SPI league rankings (which are imperfect) has MLS as the 15th best league in the world and Serie B as the 23rd best league. My guess is that it’s closer near the top and the gap is more apparent lower down the league.

The SPI league rankings lag a year behind in leagues/teams outside Europe and North America. They still have Flamengo as the Top Brazilian team and River as the Top Argentinian. It's obvious those people never watch anything from outside Europe, MX and MLS.

I'm fine with this. Probably not the worst place in the world to work.

Still hopes he goes to Sassuolo!!
If he stays in B maybe someone can follow them around Italy on their journey to return to the Serie A?? Write a book about it.

On the contrary, I've been there for both work and pleasure many times. Just don't like Venice.

Venice is more history, etc. and worth a visit for sure. But a day or 2 is more than enough. There are so many good places in Italy to visit that are more where I want to spend time.

I’ve gone twice. First time was smelly and crowded, the next was beautiful and uncrowded. Just need to go when the country opens up at the tail end of a pandemic. I hit Italy and Thailand at perfect times during Covid.

My one smelly and crowded trip was enough. Italy has many awesome places.

I just meant there are places much more smelly and crowded.
Venice at the height of tourist season is hell. Agreed

I'm sure it's very tied to the particular time of year, but Venice in the weeks before and after Xmas is some of the most fun I've had in Italy (and I've had A LOT of fun in Italy...) Everyone is home from their jobs in far-off Euro cities, with walking-around-money. Few tourists, Osterias and Tavernas spilling patrons into the street. I had to nearly fight to pay for a drink - everyone just looking to celebrate... If you get a chance to hit Venice right before or after Xmas up through New Year - I'd suggest it. Rest of the time... I can't vouch. And yeah, summer is hot, smelly and crowded when I've been there.
