I never understood the move to Mexico. Unless it was for more money, but wouldnt he make more money in Eredivisie?? Or put a different way, if Mexican L. paid more than Dutch L. wouldnt Alvarez have stayed home??
The chance to move up from reputable Eredivisie clubs is bigger than from their league plus it's been a very good move for Mexicans to the Eredivisie as the Mexican bigsoccer posters have noticed their players improve significantly during their stay here. They almost always cheer when a player gets a move here.
I think at the time he stated he wanted an interesting foreign adventure. I suspect he thought he would get more playing time than he actually did. Monterrey brought back one of their players who had been in England I think which cut his playing time. He really looked slow the other day and maybe with full playing time in Belgium he gets back in shape. This was the same issue that Ihatteran had when he joined Ajax in January. 10 kg over weight and slow.

It was only an MLS team, but deLigt and Zirkzee scored for Bayern last night. There are now 4 Dutchies on that team if you wanna count Mazraoui (Zirkzee, deLigt, Gravenberch)
LOL, DC United are my home town team. They are really awful and if the league had relegation they would go down!!! Anyone of the top seven teams in the Eredivisie would beat them with ease.
Super goal by De Ligt... a very difficult volley with his weaker foot. And that's within 90+ seconds of him coming on!! Hopefully this signals a great start for De Ligt's career at Bayern, and that he will climb to become one of the best CB's in the world. I thought his spell at Juventus was quite mediocre and didn't exactly live up to the billing.
