The issue with Cameron was 100% on-the-field at the start. Then it started to get personal between he and Arena. [There's been a story about Cameron sitting on the bench while the US was losing, and loudly bad mouthing the guys on the field. Don't know if that's hearsay or not.] It culminated in that column Cameron wrote in the Players' Tribune blasting Arena and everyone in sight for the WCQing failure. That was the last we saw of Geoff Cameron. Soccer players aren't children. They can handle differing political views. In case people haven't been paying attention, Christian Pulisic doesn't make his political affiliation a secret. Nobody cares.
Reyna and Dortmund visit 1860 Munich today in the DFB Pokal. The Championship also starts this weekend, while all major European leagues will start by next weekend. So today is unofficially the beginning of the 3 month sprint to the World Cup. A lot of the player debates that have been dull since the Uruguay match completed will start to get interesting again.
If they are that small minded that they hate me because I don't like the movies they love then I really won't miss them. That goes for any subject. I use movies because one of my sons is a movie freak and can see him actually dropping friends for such infractions but it could be anything. As for Cameron he should be free to his opinion no matter how odd but I do agree if he's constantly going on about it to an annoying factor it has no place at work. Be a professional about all things. If someone asks fill them in but no one likes a single issue person who drones on and on.
If true it would be a reason to not call him up. I feel Altidore has been close to this recently for the national team and especially club. Wonder how that will go over in Mexico?
That's all well and good when politics is what should the marginal tax rate be or something, but if someone is a strong supporter of a candidate who claimed that say, Mexico is only sending rapists and murderers to the US, I can understand why say, Ricardo Pepi would be pretty upset about that, considering that he and his family are the ones being called rapists and murderers. I have friends who don't agree with my politics, but there are certain values I hold dear that if you have a contrary value, we're not going to be friends. And frankly, if that situation occurs in a workplace, you have to punt someone. I'm aware that for most of history in the US, the answer was that the racist person was given grace and the other person needed to suck it up, but I'm glad we're not there now.
The "only" part is the part he didn't say. Still inflammatory. Let's all move on off of politics or we will be as bad as possibly Cameron was.
The exact quote: "When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people." 1. Countries don't usually "send" people anywhere... 2. This is the kind of rhetoric that gets people discriminated against and even physically harmed. Demagogues tend to focus on any marginalized group of people committing crimes to rile up the masses. Breitbart used to have a section on their website called "black crime"... Trump would tell detailed stories at his rallies of undocumented immigrants committing crimes... the Nazis had newspapers that listed crimes committed by Jews. The term for this is "stochastic terrorism": Stochastic terrorism = The public demonization of a person or group resulting in the incitement of a violent act.https://t.co/k26gs2CEJD— Dictionary.com (@Dictionarycom) June 28, 2018 3. The vast majority of any people going anywhere are good people, but he can't even say some are good, instead he says he assumes some are good, like by the law of averages they can't ALL be rapists and murderers... this despite the fact that immigrants both legal and undocumented, commit crimes at lower rates than "Real Americans"... I've never understood people's problem with politics and religion. Supposedly we have free speech as a right. The problem I see is repressing other people's politics so they go out and buy an AR15. I'd rather keep them arguing. The real political danger is not the left right divide but a totalitarian state established on the need to mediate between the two suckers.

At some point Reyna has to, you know, actually see if he can play again. I get the take it easy, but this smells more like "loan him out."
Gio has already shown when healthy he can contribute at that level. This is completely about his health. And no way would a team want to loan a good player out and take the chance that some other team takes good care of his injuries.
Dortmund definitely isn't loaning him out this year. They're just being cautious and easing him back in.
Sounds like the Prima Donna's from '98. Lalas said that he basically monkey wrenched (to the extent that he was able), the '98WC, because he wasn't starting.
I suppose Dortmund could think Gio is awesome and still loan him out to find out if he can play a season without having to manage the roster headache if he does get injured again. I'm sure they have some clubs who they trust to not overuse him and provide quality training and physio work.
And it's interesting to note that - besides the indispensible Pulisic - the two main holdovers considered for the USMNT now: Yedlin: widely reported as an excellent locker room guy - he's included now Brooks: lots of history of trouble with club coaches, and rumors of being a prickly locker room guy - he's not included now Funny how that works.
Why are you sure of that? Teams loan to each other many times. If a team screws the parent club they won’t get more loans. Seems reasonable that Dortmund could have a good relationship with at least some clubs.
Feels more to me like the Lille approach, which is what I want. If it takes 6 months rather than 4, so be it, I just want him back healthy, and these kinds of injuries can become chronic if not addressed appropriately.
Not to that degree. Even if you have somewhat trusted friend you won't send your wife to sleep with him.
What was the quote from that podcast, "Fiasco," about '98? I think it was from Wegerle, from a locker room incident, "team meeting," after a loss where he basically insisted that like the rest of them, "he was playing for himself" or something of that order. 1998 was a real horror show combination of bad luck: A coach beginning to get drunk on his own power and perceived brilliance. An arrogant, idiot of a player in John Harkes, willing to risk everything, and the locker room, and to break the ultimate trust w/his teammates (supposedly he was already on some thin ice after shenanigans during a roadie in Europe if I remember right). Players high on their own supply after the success of '94 and '95 and qualifying in '97. The Regis factor. The blow up after Harkes was dumped and not explained properly (though to be fair, they put the coach in a no win situation). The Stupid Formation. The everything built around Reyna approach to the Germany game. The bad luck against Iran. Could go on..... Such a nightmare World Cup. Fiasco podcast from the Men in Blazer crew from four years ago was a great breakdown of it and everything from '94 to '98 post USA '94.
