I’d love to see the below team names and logos in MLS if and when there is another round of expansion.

The Tulsa Roughnecks, Tampa Bay Rowdies and San Diego Sockers.

The way the league has grown and given the right ownership and stadiums, they would be great additions.

Sacramento is in the USOC Final.

I hope this revives MLS hopes a bit.

I'd love to see them in CCL. Is there a parh for the runner-up or do they have to win it?

SAC would have to win I think. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Orlando wins and somehow wins MLS Cup, and/or Supporters Shield, the next team with the highest points total in MLS qualifies. I believe the only way USL qualifies is through the US Open Cup.

kudos to them if they pull it off, but maybe score at home against the worst team in mls before you wonder how you will do against club america.

Sac have really progressed by playing dogged defensive football in games where the opposition have dominated possession. This is exactly how to approach teams from a higher level and they've excelled in this.

in a tournament situation, against bad mls teams, absolutely.

despite what some are saying, it is not indicative of potential season-long success at a higher level, nor will it get you too far against ccl competition.

So…I’m really sorry but Sac is not in the Expansion discussion. I know we’re all very emotional, but they’re broke.

I'm sure teams get TV and revenue from ticket sales but looking up the prize money for the Open Cup, the winner only gets $300k.

That doesn't seem like that much money for an MLS or USL team.

I doubt that money will even cover many travel costs.

We'd need to add 3 for real divisions.

Atlantic: DC, NYRB, NE, NYCFC, Philly, Orlando, Miami, Charlotte.

Central/Great Lakes: Columbus, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Cincy, Nashville, Atlanta (possibly Atlantic eventually), + Indy/Det.

Rocky Plains: SKC, Colorado, FCD, RSL, Houston, Austin, St. Louis, Minnesota (possibly Great Lakes eventually).

Pacific: LAG, SJ, Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, LAFC + Las Vegas, + Phoenix.

Garber not even asked about expansion at the All-Star game halftime?

I feel like there’s trouble for Las Vegas.

    You are right.

He usually talks about expansion during halftime of an all star or MLS Cup game…

The lack of expansion talk was curious.

I just feel like, even prior to the Sac debacle, MLS kind of was switching focus towards getting their house in order rather than rapid expansion.

Some of the more problematic/long standing situations uave been resolved fairly recently. DC has a stadium, the Fire are out of Bridgeview, the Precourt/Crew/Austin situation got the best possible outcome, and I *think* the Miami stadium is a go.

Plus it seems there real hope for NE & NYCFC on stadium situations. That would leave only a search for a FireHaus in Chicago, and Soldier Field is not awful.

I think the Don would like 30 (or maybe 32) franchises operating in good stadium spots prior to WC 2026. If deals get done for NE & NYC soon, he could do it.

Once the stadium stuff gets sorted, I think Don will turn back towards expansion. With all franchises in good spots, the price of expansion will go up.

I mean #30 has to happen but he can't talk about it because what happens in Vegas....

If teams played each division opponent twice , home and away, that would be 14 games a year.

This would be almost half of a club’s given yearly schedule, less maybe 6 games.

Whichever way you cut it you're gonna lose some local rivalries.

I would have a North-East division and a south division.

Northeast - Montreal, Toronto, New Yorkx2, New England, Philly, DC (7)

South - Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami, Orlando, Houston, Dallas, Austin, Nashville (8)

West - Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, LAx2, VegasSacPhxSanD, San Jose (7)

Central - KC, St Louis, Chicago, Minnesota, Columbus, Cincinnati, Salt Lake, Colorado (8)

Salt Lake could move to the West and Nashville to Central if that's more appropriate.

    MLS Final half time:

Will be patient with Vegas and San Diego. Feels like San Diego might actually have moved out in front for team 30.

    *Sacramento is not out*

Says we are "most likely" done at 30. Dont believe that for even one second. Posturing to get Vegas, San Diego, and poss Sacramento over finish line

As much as I am not sure we need another team in California, San Diego has no NFL or NBA or NHL, a perfect sized brand new stadium to go along with perfect weather. No dome needed !
With Raiders just added to LV Knights and I am thinking the A's are coming and can't see why the NBA is not already in Vegas, I think too many teams in LV to compete for the sports $
Kind of glad to hear Sacramento is not totally out

And Nashville has made San Diego sized stadiums sexy again. Fits like a glove honestly. Perfect place to poach Xolos prospects too

I could see San Diego being like Portland where both the mens and the women's teams draw well...

Anyone know how well SDSU football drew this year?

I’d much rather go to my team’s away match in San Diego than either of the other two.
