Do we have to pay NJ anything given that he was their player? And how many heads of garlic and cans of tomato juice are needed to remove THAT stench? From his Wiki Sky Sports reported on 24 January 2012 that Victor was close to agreeing to terms with Major League Soccer club New York Red Bulls.[10] The signing was confirmed by New York on 10 February 2012.[11] Victor did not command a regular starting place in the New York starting lineup during the 2012 season.[12]
If we ever start referring to the Flores years as the best years of the 2020’s, remind me to kill myself. Thx, Jay!
This is a solid thread. Still - I don't understand how this garbage team hires a coach, then trades its best player because he doesn't like the coach, then fires the coach. It is comical how bad that is, for any sport or any business really. Good thing the local media is there to hold these clowns responsible.
I joined out of spite, because honestly, I'm a terrible person. I thought about wearing a DC United shirt covered in fake poo to a game as a protest, but I was concerned people would think it was real poo, and then I had second thoughts. A poo-covered shirt is not a great look for me, even if it is a fitting symbol of these last few years for my team, I thought to myself. This board was my next best idea. Still may do the poo covered shirt at some point in the future.
Palsson signing official. Signed through 2024 with an option for 2025. He'll occupy a DP slot for the time being. Goff reports that United will look to buy down his budget charge next year so they could bring in another DP.
Nothing screams MLS as loudly as LAFC getting both Bale and Chielini on TAM deals while DC gets some rando who played for the MetroStars in 2012 as a DP.
I bet when the MLSPA salaries come out, Palsson will be making less then either Bale or Chiellini. Meanwhile, Reddit is BIG MAD that Palsson is a DP and posters there think the FO has hoodwinked supporters (aka, Palsson is the only DP coming this window).
DC can still go in for a U-23 DP. We need a solid DM so the Palsson signing makes sense with our Morrison signing we get a stronger spine.
Can - not must. Looking at players between 20-27 for the last DP slot. Preferably in a role that will allow a pressure release for Taxi.
It's only hoodwinking if you believed them. If you did, that's on you. It does seem pretty dumb that he's a DP. He wouldn't have to be very good to be better than some of our recent DPs...
I just don't get the love for Romo; he seems average at best. He also seems to make significant positioning mistakes, does not command the penalty area and I haven't seen him as a great shot stopper. His ability to play with his feet is pretty good, but I'm not sure that is the priority for DCU.
I just don't see DC making the playoffs this year. I hope that with the new signings and after the culling at the end of the season we can be improved for 2023.
The only thing keeping DC statistically in the running for the playoffs is how badly planned and executed expansion has been and how absolutely mediocre to bad the Eastern conference is in particular. The fact that the two teams fighting for an expanded last spot in the playoffs are at 1.27 and 1.18 PPG at this stage of the season is really something else. There is a real possibility DC could slip into that last position with <1.35 PPG, which is previous years would give you a 0% chance of a playoff spot.
Actually he used to play for the Red Bulls before they gave him away to a Dutch team on a free transfer back several years ago.
A strong Center Back. We need additional strength down the spine. Our current CBs are currently a mess and are playing far below expectations. It might be time for some significant culling in the back line.
