    Legend. Best there ever was.

Is anyone here subscribed to the Dispatch and Jacob Myers' texting service/updates? If not, I need to start sharing those here for a good laugh. Sometimes somewhat worthwhile, but other times, quite hilariously bad.

What a great site that was. Bring back V-Army dot com (or whatever it was) as well. Just to hear the intro song.

Fine, but who would have expected Columbus prices to be higher than New York prices?

And later, Crew attendance likely to set records.

MLS clubs should be copying us. (Please ignore my prior complaints about the marketing strategies of the Crew.)

Well given the fact that Columbus plays in a brand-new facility while one New York franchise plays in a 12-year-old MLS stadium and the other New York franchise plays in a baseball stadium, I think a lot of people would expect Columbus prices to be higher than New York.

I also think it's unfair to compare the prices of the MLS franchise in Columbus to that of the franchises in New York. How many Columbus residents are shopping for RBNY tickets? Each market is different and the Columbus market is bearing these prices with aplomb.

Look, a lot of people can't afford to go to OSU football games but ain't no one writing anything about that. This is a piece who's sub-head could very well be "Soccer is expensive even though it's barely a rung above minor league." It's a hit piece, plain and simple.

Was that the "let them know, let them know, ohhh ohhh ohhh" song?

Wasn't there a "Bugger off ya bastards" song used for the FOF page?

There was also a Geocities site.

There's a graph if you scroll down below the map of the stadium.

Obviously, those who play the market could get in for maybe even below face value for the crummy opponents, based on seat location and when bought via resale. A few years ago, I saw tickets for Indiana or Minnesota for something like $40 a day or two before those games...great seats too. Just like any other game, weather can obviously play a factor.

And yeah, those premium games will absolutely command premium prices, especially for the best locations.

I believe student tickets are $39/game, but you have to buy the whole season. And yeah, those can also be sold for whatever the market can bear. There's an old joke about "Sell your Northwestern tickets for pizza money. Sell your TTUN tickets for tuition money."

I suppose I could go to the Arkansas State or Toledo games...

Edit: I suppose Rutgers isn't that bad either.

If I remember correctly: student tickets can't be sold on the open market anymore because they require a BuckID to be used.

As of 2021, it was an app with some sort of verification process. (I think it's just "we send a code to your OSU student email.") You go on, select the ticket off a list where you see section, row and price and you then text or call the seller. Payment and ticket transactions are via usually Venmo and email.

Student, faculty and staff tickets are *supposed* to require an ID. However, it can be anyone's ID and the people at the gate don't really check.

Of course, all tickets are digital with updating bar codes (similar to Crew games.) I'd imagine there's some sort of process for people who don't have smartphones or their battery dies or whatever.

You can usually find seats below face value on gameday on the resale market. OSU didn't sell out last year for the Tulsa game but I don't think they dropped the price to account for lack of demand.

    Could they though?

Say they sell 90% of the seats. A week before the game, they drop the price on the remaining tickets by $15.

What do they do if/when people complain that their neighbor bought a ticket at the "new" face value?

Of course they *could* do exactly that, but it definitely opens up the door to various issues like described.

They charge different prices for various games depending on anticipated demand. There's no reason they can't update their pricing model for a given game. Everyone on an airplane paid a different price for their seat even though they all take off and land together. The Tulsa game was the least attended OSU game in about 50 years. I was there and it wasn't exactly riveting.

But some of those people may buy airplane tickets direct, whereas some buy via Orbitz, Travelocity, Kayak, etc.

    I thought the same thing.

They seem to be implying that having sunk millions into OHPC that the team is likely to just walk away.

    These are pitifully stupid people.

Even when buying direct from the airline, prices can swing wildly from day to day and week to week.

The fifth most expensive incoming transfer in Crew history is on his way to Romania and The Legend Jacob Myers has been scooped by an independent journalist who has a link to an online Blackjack Academy in his twitter bio.

Matan's early promise and rapid decent into the deep dark recesses of Porter's dog house sounds like an interesting story we'll never get to read!

To be fair, I think Myers is on a beach vacation this week. Not that he'd have been first on the story had he been in Columbus, but at least it's a decent excuse.
