Oh trust there have been many a superior player. I just fondly remember this one from his Schalke days. Folk forget what pre-injury Weston looked like, but I remember and look forward to him carving his name into the XI once all the hubbub is over with.
I really don't understand this view of him as an untechnical effort player. As someone in this thread as pointed out, he is actually quite a good dribbler, passer, and so on. Look at his highlight since he has been a Juve, I don't think there is any lack of technique. Wes' biggest problem is some decision making, making the right pass or right dribble at the correct time, but man Wes can do just about anything you want on the field.
It's more a matter of reputation and the ability to do stuff that looks "cool." But in a team you need more than that. That's why I think he'll regain the spot if he loses it at first.
Juventus confirm that Paul Pogba has picked up a meniscus injury and will visit with a specialist to see if surgery is necessary. pic.twitter.com/Fkignzk8Ih— CBS Sports Golazo ⚽️ (@CBSSportsGolazo) July 25, 2022 Imagine this means we won’t have to worry about McKennie’s playing time for a bit
A meniscus tear can be tricky depending on where the tear is, the severity, and if its medial or lateral. Not all meniscus tears are reparable if it’s in a location lacking blood flow. I speak from experience after two arthroscopic surgeries on the same meniscus tear.
I agree. I don’t understand the “not a technical player” schtick. I watched a big chunk of his games with Juve and he was plenty technical. He wasn’t doing steps overs or dribbling tricks but he has a great shoulder drop fake that coupled with his physical presence throws off his marks. He also has some pretty great no look passes and flicks that work well for him. Off the ball he has good positioning and a feel for where the ball is going to end up. Great late runs into the box and an ability to show up in odd places to pick off balls from blind angles.
Meniscus tear at 29. I guess that's curtains on his chances of making Qatar. IIRC it's 2 months to recover, 3 to be match fit, and that if there's no surgery, and for an older player. So with luck he'll be back by the end of October. Yeah, too late for Les Bleus.
With the 26 man roster I feel like there’s still a good chance France takes him. Those extra three spots definitely afford you the ability to take a flyer on someone who may be a fitness/injury concern. Plus being back at the end of October gives him some time before the roster has to be named.
That woman is a real force in US soccer! Her dedication knows no bounds. I imagine that when she retires she'll be quickly inducted into the US soccer hall of fame. She's earned it!
Pogba is expected to miss 30-35 days with the tear and following surgery. Juve is hoping he will be back for the match against Roma August 27th. Bit premature to say he wont even go to the WC in November…let alone his career to be over. Arthur and his entourage is apparently in talks with Valencia for a loan move with Juve likely paying some of his wages. Great for Juve, unfortunate for Yunus. But after watching Arthur for the past 2 years, I can’t understand anymore what he is good for outside of being “press resistant.” I would take Musah and his lack of end product any day of the week. We should get the start tonight against Barca in Dallas. I have seen some people suggest Max is going to change things up a little and use a double pivot with Wes and Locatelli. Hoping for a good showing tonight!
I have never seen any indication that Max doesn’t value Wes and his contribution to the squad. Whether it is as a starter or rotation piece, Wes is fine. Just because Wes does some neat little flicks and 1-touch passing doesn’t mean he is a super technical player. With that said, He doesn’t have as bad technique as these arrogant euros think and even some Americans I guess. I mean, he isn’t the second coming of Xavi/Pirlo or even Pogba either but he can hold his own just fine. Forza Wes! Fino Alla Fine!
I’m going to the match against Real on Saturday at the Rose Bowl! Just need to sneak out from my nephews birthday party without anyone noticing…
It's great to know we'll have someone at the game who can provide live pre-game, in-game, and post-game coverage. Don't forget to take a minute or two just to enjoy the game itself.
Juventus has bought Ramsey out of his contract. Doesn't really affect McKennie in terms of club playing time, since he has been so far ahead of Ramsey, but US fans will be curious where Ramsey goes with the World Cup imminent.
https://www.skysports.com/football/...mseys-juve-contract-terminated-ronaldo-latest There has been interest from the MLS, where Ramsey's Wales team-mate Gareth Bale has recently signed for Los Angeles FC. But it is understood that Ramsey prefers to join a Premier League club to be closer to his Cardiff home. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...juventus-contract-free-transfer-b2131684.html There have been reports that Everton and Watford were keen to sign him after a departure from Turin, but Nottingham Forest - where he had a short loan spell earlier in his career - are also a possibility after promotion to the Premier League.
