Our offense did ok. Except for Ji SY, the others just need to work on their finishing.
The defense on the other hand were asleep. The Japanese managed to score two goals despite Korea having a significant number of players defending. Shim SY and Lim SJ did ok. I don't know why the other GK (Yoon YG) is often made to sit on the bench. Yoon has shown that she could block dangerous shots. She has blocked all of the shots made by the American and the Canadian players. She's already 34 years old. I'm convinced that our team's history would've been very different if she played more often.

Overall this edition of the EAFF Championship was a disappointment.
Granted the Taegeuk Ladies have had to deal with awkward WK-League schedule that doesn't help them in shape, mental lapses we showed during first two matches should be never repeated. It is getting old that we always choke at the latter phase of the game. 15 out of 21 goals were condeded after 60th minutes since Colin Bell's first day at the KWNT.

Question. What is the record attendance for Korea WNT? (played in Korea).
I can't find any data about it. :(
6530 is the highest attendance I could find.

I think I remember a time when South Korea's home games used to have more attendances at least a decade ago. I don't know the exact numbers.

On the other hand, the North Koreans tend to have full attendances with their women's national team in their home games. 50,000 watched in this stadium.

Korea got a favorable draw: Germany, Morocco, and Colombia.

    July 25, 2023 - vs. Colombia (Sydney)
    July 30, 2023 - vs. Morocco (Adelaide)
    August 3, 2023 - vs. Germany (Brisbane)

Schedule is also favorable as we will get the title contender Germany in the last game.
I am sure the Germans will collect 6 points from the first two matches.
We just need to get 6 points against Colombia and Morocco.

KFA should fire Colin Bell right after the WWC. Dunno how does the whole infrastructure supporting NT looks like nowadays (Is it better than it was in 2019?) but my impression about the man is that under his management Korean team looks lost. NT did not make much progress during his 3 years of tenure. Korea still remian one of the big players in Asia but the gap to the world's top is widening.

Considering WWC, even if one assumes that Korea beats Colombia and Morocco and advances out of the group behind Germany, the duel in the round of 16 against either France or Brazil will most likely end in a 0-3 or even higher loss.

Some context: for most of his tenure he was unable to arrange friendlies due to the rules that were put in place. Teams coming to Korea had to quarantine for 2 weeks and if he took his team out of the country, the players had to quarantine for 2 weeks upon their return which was not okay with their club teams. Back in 2021, Nigeria's head coach who is a friend asked me to connect him to Colin to arrange a friendly. Two willing coaches, but the logistics were impossible.

When Korea showed up for the Olympic qualifying playoff against China, they hadn't played anyone in a long time. World Cup qualifying, same thing. It's difficult to advance a team when they aren't playing anyone.

Separate to that, women's soccer around the world is rapidly improving. WK-League isn't particularly competitive. Players need to get overseas and improve. A few have gone, most don't want to leave. Jang Sel-gi went to Spain for a few months and looks like she has no interest in going again. Choe Yu-ri had offers but opted to go to Incheon. A number of others won't even consider it. There's talent, but it's falling behind because it isn't getting challenged.

I noticed that many other countries are utilizing young players from US. Tryouts for other countries like the Philippines, DR, Puerto Rico, T&T, and others. These young women are going in and making impacts that are beneficial for the team. Why isn't this something Korea partakes in?

Because unlike those countries you mention, Korea's domestic talent is good. You aren't going to find Korean Americans that are better than what you have in WK-League. There's zero Korean Americans in NWSL. I can only recall having seen one Korean American in Division I collegiate soccer - I'm sure there are more but they'd be pretty obscure.

I feel pretty confident in saying there's not a Korean American that could get anywhere near the level of the Korean WNT.

Hopefully, this will change. Korea stopped requiring the quarantine last year. The team needs more friendlies.

KWNT will play two-legged friendlies against Zambia on April 7 and 11, respectively. Kick-off time and venues are still TBA.
