10% at the moment and i think it got them ~200. it gets them money now but will be a net loss over the life of the deal. they apparently are looking to get permission to go up to 25% and are considering selling a percentage of their licensing/merchandising arm (or at least they claim they can) to bring it up to ~600.
Done deal, signed right now. Arsenal Mexican talent Marcelo Flores will join Real Oviedo on loan deal valid until June 2023. Paperworks finally completed. 🚨🇲🇽🇪🇸 #AFCOfficial statement expected today. pic.twitter.com/ITCy6LmnN2— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) July 20, 2022
Seeing some claims coming out of Portugal that Brighton are negotiating a loan for Nuno as a replacement for Cucurella
That is because it is essentially a loan secured over the future revenue. This kind of financing of corporate debt is more expensive.
assuming Nuno gets plenty of playing time, that BHA loan could/should be a really good move for the player and both clubs if this happens. My biggest concern is how long Graham Potter stays at BHA. If a big club makes an early coaching change in the next several months, I can see him getting serious consideration.
Agreed. If Arsenal decide to sell, Brighton will be able to afford a good fee if they avoid relegation. Be interesting to see how the LB position shapes up without him, if Tierney can stay healthy or if he can be sold, or if Zincheko stakes a claim or ends up playing more CM. Will have a big impact on whether Nuno has a path to return.
that part makes sense. especially as a reason for, as you said, taking a big loss on doing that loan vs future revenue. and, admittedly, i haven't followed their offseason transactions terribly closely but it feels like their one major payroll saving i've seen is dembele accepting a paycut for his extension and nothing in the way of sales?
Well I guess it’s actually happening. They just showed Zinchenko in the Orlando stadium shaking hands with a bunch of arsenal fans. Ps. I know he’s not the best at defending but it’s hard for me to imagine him being worse at LB than Tavares.
Jesus is playing with joy. Llke he has a new lease on life. Perhaps he feels like Pep’s shackles are off. IDK but i’m really liking what I see so far.
Seeing claims that Torreira left the squad and travelled to Italy for "personal reasons". Maybe a move immanent???

Duuude this leapt out at me when I watched it on Youtube. I watched this part back like three times. Dude got absolutely rinsed
Renewed links to Arthur. He’s not an 8, he’s a small 6, so he doesn’t appear to fill an immediate need. His real strength is as a deep lying playmaker. I don’t see this one happening unless they are convinced they won’t have Partey available and/or Xhaka leaves.
He was the kind of player, a la Gibbs, who looked great as a defender when he could use his pace for last-gasp recovery tackles in the late-Wenger era of headless chicken defending. But after the injury he looks psychologically cowed—never gets close enough to his mark, terrified of getting done. On those wages we’ll be very lucky to sell him anywhere
He looked really good as a lcm in Barca’s system he was a 6/8 with busquets holding not sure why he fell off and looked bad at juve
Seeing rumors Newcastle is interested in buying Pepe. He'd fit in well there with all the other players that have great speed and ball skills, but can't finish. Edit: @chjoak posted seconds before me. Hope I didn't jinx this move since our posts are nearly identical...
🇨🇮 Newcastle believe Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe is 'attainable' this summer [Dean Jones/Give Me Sport]. #AFC 👇 Full story on @F365:https://t.co/dXjYk8rV79— Jason Soutar (@jbsoutar) July 21, 2022 They see him as “attainable.” I would agree with that assessment.
I think there is a recency bias when talking about the late-Wenger era of headless chicken defending. I don’t know if I would call teams that featured a healthy center back pairing of Per and Kos as headless chicken defenders. If it was headless chicken defending, it worked pretty well. In the 5 seasons before Wenger’s last season, Arsenal allowed 37, 41, 36, 36, and 44 goals. In his last season they allowed 51 goals, but Per missed most of that season and Kos about a third of the season through injury, so Arsenal had to rely more on Mustafi, the ultimate headless chicken defender. In the 4 post Wenger seasons they have allowed 51, 48, 39, and 48 goals.
On Saturday, Everton’s only credible attack was the right side of Pepe and Bellerin. Bellerin got destroyed by Gibson.
