Germany up 1-0. The defense just stopped to think about how to play a ball and Germany stole the ball and then progressed to a score. Bad defense by Austria and good attack by Germany.
Right now Germany is winning most of the 1v1 battles and Austria seems to be playing sluggish. Austria is reacting well to what is happening but Germany is the one making things happen.
1-0 at the half. Right now Germany is not really dominating but Austria is unable to maintain any real attack.
Austria were inches away from being up 1-0. A misplay leading to an own end giveaway gives Germany the 1-0 lead. Two plays that have changed the timbre of this match. Either side are deserving to be ahead. Club soccer has given all of us this spectacle to enjoy.
You do not need to support a country or team to want them to play better and smarter. I support nobody in this match but I really want Austria to play better like they did early in the first half. It makes for a much more entertaining match.
Naturally, who doesn't like the underdog story? (yes, I know - the one who is on the wrong end of it)
It seems that Austria's decision making is just a little slow. Also it is NOT luck that causes a ball to hit the post or crossbar. A hit post or crossbar is a miss.
Oh, both granddaughters have been won over by Austria. The squeals every time Austria touches the ball is becoming a bit irritating. I have been tempted to mute my chat feed but I can't do that to these excited young ladies.
