I hope he doesn't get the 10. Totti was the last of his kind in Italy and Roma both, he was a pivotal player not just for us but for Italy's national team and a player who wasn't just loyal because he couldn't get 2x the money somewhere else. If you want certain emblems of the club to remain emblems, you can't just hand the number 10 to another player with zero contribution to the team just because of a name. Football stopped being romantic 5-10 years ago, and Totti was the exception not the rule, we need to appreciate that fact more than ever now.
Must have been one of Pinto’s easier negotiations “Either come here and earn less or you will have to live in Napoli”
#Roma, Paulo #Dybala ha scelto il numero di maglia: niente numero 10, indosserà il 21https://t.co/KzGSO4VNFL— Gianluca Di Marzio (@DiMarzio) July 18, 2022 Dybala will wear 21. Matic will change his number (maybe to 8).
Juventus abandon Zaniolo trail, turn their attention to Alvaro Morata https://t.co/ybgjEcRopw— RomaPress (@ASRomaPress) July 18, 2022
If we keep Zaniolo, we have completely humiliated Juve. To think all you idiots were jumping on the bandwagon about Pallottashit and Mongo. Our owners have done more in 2 years then your heroes did in their whole time here. Some of you are really stupid. Dybala is a great signing.
Yeah, heard that too. It's probably why he accepted a lower salary than he initially asked for. If you think about it, it's not that bad for us. Keeps him motivated and even if someone triggers it next summer and he leaves, we make a net profit out of the whole thing and can reinvest.
So, Basically Dybala will leave after 1year if he has a very good season. Big clubs will knock on door and he won't say No.
Not to put a damper on the party, but I wouldn't get too attached to Dybala. Never a good sign if a player demands for a low release clause. It means he wants an easy exit strategy. Chances are next summer he's going to go begging for Inter again. If Dybala has a good/mediocre season, he's leaving for 20m to Inter, especially if Lukaku goes back to Chelsea (most likely scenario). Even if Dybala has a poor season, I could see Broke Barca going in at 20m for Dybala. Or some random EPL club like Brentford or Leeds or Newcastle where 20m is nothing for them and they can afford his salary as well. The only way Dybala stays with us more than a season is if he's injured half the time and no one wants to buy him. I just hope in this season, Dybala can help us win UEL or Coppa and finish in a CL spot. Then Dybala can either sign a new contract with us to remove the release clause, or go wherever the * he wants. That being said. Still a fantastic deal for us, even if we only get to have him for a year.
Let's be honest here , there is no chance in hell he would have come to Roma without Mourinho pulling him in The moment you guys sacked Mourinho ( if any ) he and some of the star player you guys have would have fcked off too
I think you want Mourinho to get sacked. The only way I see him getting sacked is if we are close to relegation at the end of the year (not happening). He’s adored by the Friedkins, Pinto, and the fans. Please Fcuk right off we don’t need your commentary here.
Both Matic and Dybala are great additions. Especially we struggle vs big teams last few years. However, I want to be cautious that they are not past it. Hopefully, this works. If we win UEL title, and finish top four would be brilliant next year.
Looks like they're still ironing out the terms of his release clause. Only Il Messagero mentioned that 20m yesterday, and I think I can guess where they had pulled that out of. 20m is nothing, so I'll be a little dissapointed if it's this low. We'll find out soon.
It makes sense tho. A 3 year deal with the rumoured figures means little risk for Roma even if he flops. While he'll still be an injury prone 32y old at the end of the contract even if he plays well. A release clause is his only chance getting another big contract before the end of his career. And like someone said: if he goes next year it was still basically a 1y loan of a potentially world class player that we made a profit on. All in all I think it's better than taking the risk of a 5y deal with a 7-8m salary and no clause.
Another thing that has not been mentioned, Dybala wanted to stay in Italy. He could have easily found a team in the prem to give him the wages we are offering him here, probably even way more too. I think the only teams that you can worry about him jumping ship for would be Barca, Madrid, and maybe Inter/Milan (if he wants to stay in Italy) if we crumble this season.
Could be that any clause is linked to CL qualification. It can be activated if we fail to finish top 4 perhaps (or win the EL).
