A tall guy that tries really hard, but ended up being 4th on the depth chart for a team that plays with only 1 striker.
I’m so tired of people saying Berry lit up USL. Does anyone even know how many games he played in USL? How many goals he scored? 7 appearances (435 minutes), 3 goals. That’s not bad for a small sample size, but it was 3 goals. He’s a product of fanboy hype, nothing more. Guess what Erik Hurtado has done in MLS this year: 8 appearances (317 minutes), 3 goals. Berry sucks, end of.
"Lit sh*t up" He was more of a quality USL 9 that belongs in the USL. For comparison, here's Hadji Barry, last season's golden boot winner in the USL, tearing up the USL. He's still in the USL.
If we are being perfectly frank, most of Berry's "fan-boy hype" came from him scoring a few goals against a last Wooden Spoon winning FCC in a season where the Crew missed the playoffs. His legend was mostly built by fans with a very small club mentality, desperately looking for something to hang their hat on in a complete and utter failure of a Columbus Crew season. They are the same people who thought that Porter's shushing of the Cincy fans was an iconic moment, while those two points dropped kept us from making the playoffs.
Massive is as Massive does. What failure - I hung my hat on the Confederations Cup... or whatever the hell that thing was called. For reals though, you spelled ironic wrong. I still say that moment was the defining point of the season. Essentially, the specific moment that the literal iceberg hit the figurative ship. Miguel can be successful -- just not in the air or placed alone on an island for 90+ minutes.
I'm inching closer to doing that Fire Myers thread. Why didn't he know this on Friday. This would explain why I couldn't find him at training that day #Crew96 https://t.co/dtChkzr9CL— Ty Fisher (@FisherTyler__) July 18, 2022
Berry's lack of tattoos is pathetic and embarrassing for DC United. Wayne Rooney is going to be pissed when they meet.
Don't count on it. I feel like I've seen worse with the limited amount of times I've seen the Jackass guys go at it.
I think you would feel differently if you were in the stadium for that moment. In hindsight, it wasn't anything special, but hearing the entire Bailey go silent was something special.
you bet your ass I created this stupid thread after the FCC games last year in an attempt to have some fun in an otherwise shitty season on an Internet message board that costs nothing to participate in, means nothing in this world, meant to supplement the interest in a hobby. All that other stuff is a bit of a leap. I think you’re over analyzing this and that’s where the fun stops for me personally but keep up the good work
Airlines have been offering $10,000 to those willing to be bumped from overbooked flights. Seems a good deal to get $235,000 in GAM to bump Berry.
Did I turn off the coffee? No... I did. Did you lock up? Yeah. Did we set the timers on the lights? Yeah. Did you close the garage? That's it. I forgot to close the garage, that's it. No, that's not it. Well, what else could we be forgetting?
I'll admit that I was bullish on Berry after his breakthrough performance against Cincy last year and was one of the fans calling for him to start when this team was in desperate need of offensive production. But, then the kid got his chance and whiffed and, well, I was no longer bullish. As for Porter... whatever. Dude's a jamoke who talked shit about the fans during a record setting losing streak in 2021 and is now the most fortunate manager in the league after being gifted a ten-million-dollar goal machine to accompany the seven-million-dollar assist machine he already has and nearly broke. I will, until proven otherwise, contend that Miguelol Berry had a future in this league until Caleb Porter got ahold of him. Hopefully Wayne Rooney can fix whatever Porter broke.
Deserved and fair. I don't want DC to be successful - at all ever in any way - but I feel bad for Miguel. He got a raw deal (unless he proves that he's just destined to be Aaron Schoenfeld 2.0).
