Barca were trying to trade Memphis to Sevilla in exchange for Kounde, a central defender. I agree with you about Xavi. Because he was a Barca star as a player, they are giving him free reign to get rid of players he doesn't like. Xavi is unproven as a manager yet.

Finally we sell a good talent for a great fee. We've been giving away players.

Brobbey sounds like it's close to being done too.

Now let's sign a LCB, RB and a deep MF.

Gorter is the same age as Cillessen was when he took over as Ajax #1. I'm not worried about the keeper.

We have a CB - Alvarez and deep MF - Timber, Fitz-Jim. Regeer is promising player that can fill in both DM and RB. We need to have more trust in our young players. Hope Schreuder will rotate more and give promising players more playing time with the first team.

    More good news.
Nigerian international Calvin Bassey signs from Rangers and will play Left Center back, he can also play Left back.
Hoping for Memphis which is a possibility from what I have read.

Unfortunately I am worried about the GK. Gorter and the two old guys is not good enough in my opinion.
I was never a fan of Cillessen although he’s grown on me more over the years.
I thought he might be headed back to Eredivise and was linked with PSV and Ajax a couple of months ago.
He just might be the # 1 for Oranje for the start of the World Cup come November, but he needs a club and must stay fit.
As for Ajax I don’t think it’s wise to sit still with the current situation.

The problem with Depay is he's not a true striker, nor a true winger. So where do you start him every game??

Having said that I would love to have him at Ajax

The way he has played with Oranje shows he’s very effective as a shadow striker of sorts.
He has certainly proven his value with his ability to play quick combinations, while he freely & very effectively moves around causing problems for the opposition.
As I said Lewandowski as a true pure 9 is clearly tremendous but comparing the others to Memphis is plain nonsense.
Auba as 9 is better too, but there is no way he is better footballer then Memphis.
His career statistics clearly shows he is better then every forward at Barca, and it’s truly quite surprising that his abilities cannot be incorporated into the Barcelona side.
End of the day it’s all about Xavi and his vision or wants, but he’s clearing out Koeman’s guys which is expected I suppose.
Hopefully Memphis gets a good move forward and Frenkie too.

Sucks Martinez is gone (been my favorite player for a while now) but I am happy that the club was prepared to make quick decisive movements in the aftermath. Hopefully Bassey lives up to this price tag cause it suggests he should be pushing Blind at LCB immediately.

Overall I’m very impressed with the business being done this summer

Guys, what in your opinion, should the starting MF lineup be? We have Tadic, Ihattaren, Taylor, Kudus, Timber, Klaassen, Berghuis. I hope Schreuder will not consider the latter two but still it won't be an easy choice.

So hard to say. Alvarez was a consistent starter at the six for ten Hag but Ajax is indicating that he can leave for the right price so maybe he’s not a part of Schreuders plans. With the purchase of Bassey & Wijndal maybe Blind is a better fit to slide up into the six role with his range of passing? Taylor looked like a decent replacement for Gravenberch in the eight role but I like Kudus as a possibility there as well if he can develop. Berghuis probably has the inside lane at the #10 role but I like both Kudus and Ihattaren there as well.

Blind is too slow for any position except CB. He will be a disaster in the MF and force Ajax to play a second DM to help him out.

I agree that wherever he plays he needs to be one of the deepest players when we are in possession or he can be a huge liability.

It'd be interesting to see Timber as 6, Kudus as 8 and Ihattaren/Taylor as 10.

Ihattaren, Steklenburg and van Axel Dongen did not travel with the team to the alp training ground. All are injured and rehabbing in Amsterdam.

I think Alvarez is going to be sold- I don't think Shruder wants guys like him in the MF. But I could be wrong...

Looks like Brobbey for 20M is close. I wouldn't like that move at all.

I do not doubt Timber would be a fine defensive midfielder but not at the expense of starting Schuurs please.

I would flip him and Alvarez. Timber is a worlds better passer.

20M for Brobbey?! Are we paying a premium for his stupidity?

Pretty sure the club has said Alvarez can be sold and not aware there has been much interest in him. Not sure the market would really be very strong for Schuurs. He struggles to track pacy forwards and is a liability in possession. You see other teams focus on targeting him with their press and it works.
