"You can't do that!" *clap clap clapclapclap* I also thought there were supposed to be serious consequences for "group confrontation" or some such of the ref by multiple players. Wouldn't this fit the description? In any case, I just cannot figure out why my tear glands are secreting nothing in response to his suspension.
That’s very, um… nice of you. But let me say this: 1. You might be slightly overestimating how much fun I am. 2. There are plenty of weekends left in the season.
Hard to believe Acosta is suspended with Don Garber and the league's long history of hating Columbus, but I'll take it. Cucho puts on a show. Crew win 3-1.
I'll go with 4-1 Columbus. Goals by Lucas, Cucho, Pedro, and . . . Berry. No matter how much less effective he has been as a starter than he was off the bench, I believe that his default setting is the ability to shine when hell is at its most real.
Naming colors has been a thing for a while. The CBJ colors were introduced as something like Capitol Blue and Goal Red.
Given that a soccer game is looking iffy, should I even make the drive down for the Clippers game (going to the Crew next week)?
Sources tell me that Johnny Hockey is operating the jackhammer tonight. Gonna be a special night. LFG.
I too am wondering if it makes sense to drive 2 1/2 hours for a non-match. 50 bucks for gas for no reason. But does MLS ever really postpone a game? I honestly can't recall. I'm thinking they'll play even if it takes.until after midnight.
Someone with insight might know specifics, or where to look, but I don't know what they are. I would suspect that they treat a kickoff differently from a match that's already started. Once a match has started, they try to get it in as long as it isn't completely unreasonable. That's why our home game against NYC was finally started, even though it was foreseeable that they were only going to get three or four minutes in before it was stopped. If the game hasn't been officially started, you can just give everyone rain checks for whenever. If it has started, you know every effort is going to be made to play the entire match (or as much of the match as it take to declare the match official). All of this is a roundabout way of saying "I don't know."
The only game I can positively remember to be postponed was the one where CFD Lt. Tudor was zapped by lightning. From what I remember, that game could have been played as the weather had passed, it was just that the players didn't feel like it, given the circumstances. (Remember, he didn't die until much later on.) FWIW, I had heard that the infamous "scoreboard fire game" was never under consideration to be postponed. If there was a likely suspect, it probably would have been that one. Has any other game been postponed? Crew games? I feel like there was. We've had quite a few bumped to different times on the same day for TV purposes (one in 2002, one this year and possibly more.) Have random games around the league been postponed for weather? I'd be surprised if that number is zero, given the number of games since April 1996. I do vaguely remember having a ticket for some Crew game and using it on a completely different day. "Tickets for the original date will be honored." Of course, the 1998 USOC final was PPD twice. Once to the next day because of Hurricane Bonnie and then "to a later date" when it was realized the next day wouldn't work. But are we counting this, considering that game was under the USSF banner and not a league match? As far as playing after midnight, there may be a city curfew/noise law to consider.
I know for a fact that there was an MLS game postponed for heavy rain in the last couple seasons. Might have been in Philly, or maybe NY -- don't remember. I do remember they kept trying until like 10 PM before the referee (in the middle of their second or third attempt at warmups) finally said enough and told everyone to get the hell off the field.
WTF are you talking about? The Hell is Real match will be played and will probably be a classic, with Cucho playing in his first home match, and FCC and The Crew battling like two interstate rivals who are 1 point apart in the standings. The minor league baseball game will probably be canceled. The soccer match will be played with some potential rain delays, if there is lightning. You may want to bag the Clippers game and find some Hell is Real tickets.
From what we have seen of Cucho so far there is no way he won’t be up for the game tomorrow. If he’s up for it than I want to be there. Rain or shine, Hell or high water I’ll be there for a must win, going to win barn burner.
