He may end up playing there because who knows what Pete wants, haha. But I'm pretty sure he's an out and out striker, at least historically.
Well, that was short lived. Vujnovic and SKC part ways. It was no surprise since the guy has been mostly invisible during his time with the team. It was just another swing and a miss in their attempt to get some offensive capability for the team. It does clear another international spot on the team for that elusive 6, if they can find one.
Transfermarkt calls this an end of loan transaction. Was this a loan with an option deal? In that case, this was a smart move (not to sign him permanently), and his Serbian club probably didn't see their asset in growing in worth with the loan. As per TM, he is simply now back with his Serbian club.
He played 26 times at CF this past season, 2 times as a left wing. but in previous years, he appeared to be a left wing who sometimes played CF.
Cliff Illig did an hour long interview with 810 WHB on Friday. It was the 5:00 hour of The Program. After listening to that, it is crystal clear that Illig is completely all-in for Vermes. He was speaking to the reasons that the season has gone poorly - losing two DPs before the season, etc. It wasn't a pre-planned vote of confidence, but sounded more like a parent explaining why their child is not the problem.
He hasn't had a league match in a month, right? I thought he was injured or maybe he was benched for a bigger problem? That said, this is terrible. For him and the team.
What a hair brained move. Now Ford gets to play with himself until September when he will be eligible to play the last 4 league games. Looks like we will be seeing more of Voloder and maybe even Rad. What else could go wrong this season?
In addition to hare-brained, it sounds really desperate. Okay, so in a couple seasons here, we've lost a player to gambling and now drugs. I suppose next year we should expect to lose someone to either drink or rock and roll?
The season is already a loss, so why not get all of the suspensions, injuries, losses, resignations, scandals, famine, pestilence, etc...out of the way now.
I just don't know about this one. Another attacking mid? 🚨EXCL: I’ve been told that Sporting KC has interest in 23-year-old Argentine 🇦🇷 attacking midfielder Gabriel Florentín from Argentinos Jrs. #SportingKC 1g/4a in 21 appearances in 2022. Valued at $2.2m, also said to be close to a deal in Russia 🇷🇺 w/FC Orenburg pic.twitter.com/CJtR64fmSE— MLS News (@willhansonmls) July 19, 2022
When I saw that earlier today it didn't make any sense at all. He'd qualify as a young DP, which he'd need to be probably given TM listed him as being valued at $2m. That'd require buying down Kinda, the one TAMable DP to get him in. It'd also require him to come in at a TAMable level b/c next year he wouldn't count as a Young DP and they'd need a TAMable DP to keep all 3 U22 initiative players (or even 2 of them). Also bringing in another attacking midfielder when they just brought in Thommy, who PV said was probably going to be in the midfield, combined with Kinda next year would mean you'd have 3 AMs on the roster. Presumably you'd push Thommy to a wing, but it'd require a MASSIVE upgrade at the 6 to get that to work. On top of all that, Sperry already debunked it anyway.
In the midst of a player exodus ifrom the Russian PL, it would make a crapton of sense to try to create interest elsewhere, but might make quite a bit of sense to consider a short term contract, even at a steep discount, in just about any other league. That said, if this were true it really would be a WTF move. If we're looking to 2023, Walter, Kinda, Duke, Hernandez, Thommy all play those 2 advanced 8 roles. Uri alone knows how to play the 6, and can't really handle it anymore. And, as the 6 tends to be just about the most important spot on the field for us, I'd think this has to be bad rumor.
The KC area produced 3 USYS national champions this past weekend in Orlando. On the boys side, KC area clubs produced 2 national champions and a semi finalist. These are the best club soccer teams (U13-U19) that are not in MLS Next. Sporting BV U19s won with a bunch of ex SKC academy players leading the way, plus a number that were deemed "not good enough" by the academy when they were younger. They have 8 boys that will play D1 soccer and a player that is going to France on a professional contract. They are better than most academy teams and another example of the talent that slips through the fingers during the development process. Just like their oversees scouting, Peter might want to revisit how they scout local talent.
Academy still hasn't filled Parry's role yet either. Academy has been without a director for going on 2 months now.
If you look at this in terms of MLS clubs, PV might have a point. New Jersey, Florida, California, Texas, for instance, are more fertile soil for the production of professional footballers. but if you look at this in a global context, SKC has a massive territory in which they don't have a rival. Most clubs over here recruit almost exclusively for their academies from their towns, cities. the SKC territory is huge by comparison to, say, Dortmund's
It's 100 percent valid to say that those locations have a larger population, and probably more players, than the KC area. That said, SKC have not come anywhere close to maximizing the potential in the KC area (or the Midwest). Of all of Peters recent excuse making comments, that one really sticks in my craw the most. I know the U18/19 group well. Complain about the academy territory AFTER you have maximized what you are working with. Our territory isn't devoid of talent. Our boys just won 2 of 7 club national championship age groups.
