For Arsenal I'm hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. The club absolutely need to be on the front foot about this from here out and take the high road of responsibility at every turn. Short-cuts for the sake of saving face in the moment won't mean squat if they end up on the wrong side of this affair. If they made a mistake last year in knowing about it but effectively sanctioning his behavior then don't make the same mistake twice. (And heaven help the club if the coaching staff participated in that decision making process.)

For the victim I can only hope healing and closure is imminent.

For the player, whoever it is... I will simply never understand these motivations. What drives someone to even risk what is clearly a privileged lot in life, let alone violate another person?

    Ugh.

Let me be the first to say to you that for someone who posts on this US-dominated board, but who lives in and is subject to the laws of the UK, your comments are refreshingly candid and open about “he should not be named“.

he wouldn't be the first engaged/married dude to step out, though, sadly.

Yeah. I was being a little tongue and cheek before.

Meanwhile Rory Stewart said this yesterday which was widely published on both sides of the Atlantic:

“People have known that Boris Johnson lies for 30 years. He’s probably the best liar we’ve had as a Prime Minister. He knows 100 different ways to lie.”

I guess Rory isn’t too overly terrified by the UK’s libel laws. ;)

oh, let me explain. he didn't get what he wants - which is more people and places talking about it - so he's going to make snide remarks just . . . swiping at it - *jab* *jab* - until he gets what he wants or gets demonstrably proven wrong (again).

and then that's where the ;) comes in, you see? because it was all a joke. gods, why do you people have to be so serious?

    . . .

oh, but also <this thing that i want but didn't get> *jab* *jab*

    . . .

    ;)

That’s fine. And probably a more appreciated kind of comment than an overly heavy-handed, black-and-white, preachy treatise.

Good luck to him. I quite enjoyed my day out at Brentford back in April, watching them beat a disinterested West Ham side.

Willian v2.0? I wouldn't put any credibility in this except that they could be panic buying a Partey replacement.

Is there any chance that Kante is only 27 years old?? If so, I'd be all over this.

I think we may be aiming for Paqueta from Lyon. He handed in a transfer request.

Kante isn't stupid. He won't join us. Even in his injuries and decline he is way better than arsenal

Not sure where he fits. Too good to rotate with MO, not defensive enough to play with MO unless of course we went dual inverted FBs.

Man I wish Wenger hadnt screwed up that transfer. Had 2 opportunities to snag Kante. Turned him down the first time (and he went to Leicester instead) and dragged his feet the 2nd and let Chelsea beat us.

He works fine as an 8. His defense is probably better than Tielemans and his work rate is very good, his pressure numbers are better than anyone Arsenal have. With Paqueta at left 8, Odegaard at right 8 and Gabriel Jesus as the striker, a lot of teams would have trouble playing out of the back against that group.
