I don't really class Tuchel as part of his 'team'. I'm more referring to agents, his personal fitness advisors, friends and family etc.
Lamptey is on a long list of players reported to have declared for Ghana today according to their FA President: https://ghanasoccernet.com/breaking...ationality-to-play-for-ghana-fa-boss-confirms Assuming all true (I recall the Nigeria FA president once claiming Tammy Abraham had declared for them), the curious bit would be the absence of Nketiah - who I think is the most important of the Ghana eligible players who us to hold onto. Curious to see what he can do next season.
Lamptey is backing training with Brighton so who knows what that visit is happening. Sod’s law will be that an injury crisis will happen right back strength will suddenly become weaker than the left back and he and Matty Cash will be injury free at that point. Nketiah has claimed he still hasn’t decided. But I can’t see him missing out on a certian World Cup place when it won’t be till at least 2023 that he is selected for England.
First of all we have pretty good strength at leftback. Second we have a plethora of quality rightbacks. We will never go short
Presuming all these players go to the World Cup, it will be interesting to see if they have the same dedication to travel to play in Afcon.
Also this feels like the equivalent of transfer deadline day deals…..where’s Jim White and his yellow tie.
The Ghanaian FA official Instagram account has made posts today about Inaki Williams switching from Spain to Ghana but no other players. He is another one who last year said he had no intention of switching but a World Cup place has tempted him.
Tariq Lamptey has switched his international allegiance from England to Ghana.https://t.co/7eetYfUfXq— The Athletic | Football (@TheAthleticFC) July 6, 2022 The Athletic claim it's done. I suppose the surprise is that Nketiah and CHO haven't switched as of yet.
Well the Athletic said last week CHO is not likely to switch this year. They don’t mention either of them in that article through.
Pretty much all the backups of the same age to James, Alexander- Arnold, Walker - Peters and Justin are duals who will likely be lost in a few years.
Livramento needs to recover from his ACL injury before we know his potential again. Fingers crossed it’s a straightforward recovery and he doesn’t become another injury ruined player.
Also he has switched despite a lot of people expecting his club manager to be the next England manager. Also he is likely to replace another English born player, Andy Yiadom, as the first choice right back for Ghana.
They won’t. I mean the backups to those four are mostly duals. Players like Spence, Johnson and Aarons.
If we weren't regularly producing players even the level of Max Aarons in the future we would have far bigger problems than the dual nationals....
34 years old! I remember when he was youth player and we were hoping he'd be a mainstay in England's midfield for years to come.
He once said he would only leave it till 25 before switching. He waited an extra 9 years before switching to play at an actual tournament.
