West Ham have seemingly complained to the FA and League over all. Comments in the Athletic suggest he might be going to Spurs instead of Villa or Leeds.
Why Spurs or Villa or Leeds for that matter since there not great at giving kids a chance? I think these kids and their advisers really need to look at where they will best develop and more importantly get game time in the first team. I guess the silver lining is now we’re allowed five subs many teams can maybe promise to be in the first team squad with the aim of getting more minutes off the bench.
I've got a question. Can players still be promoted to the first team if they haven't signed a professional contract? I know you have to be 17 to sign a professional deal but can they still be officially a first team player at 16? I'm pretty sure Harvey Elliott was an official Liverpool first team member before he turned 17...
You can't sign pro until you're 17. Jobe turns 17 in September so his scholarship will only last about two and a half months, whoever he's playing for.
There are rumours Liverpool are after him but I do wonder if he will reject them now and then try and move from January onwards like Jude did.
Not one single English player mentioned in the BBC round up of the Sunday papers. Sky sports at least mention that Palace are interested in Morgan Gibbs - White as well as more Sterling to Chelsea news.
Just a general question, what does everyone think about the PL2 (U23s) reverting back to U21s? Is it good/bad? What do you people think will come of it reverting back to the old system? I think clubs wanted to revert back because they don't want players to be lingering on a first team fringe basis for a possible 6/7 years when they quickly just make a profit of them quickly.
It's irrelevant, most teams play an U19 side anyway, and they've allowed more overagers in as part of the change. Won't affect anything right now.
Just to answer an earlier post, I guess things are starting to get moving with their new training/Academy. Look forward to seeing the designs. Re NUFC's new training ground. Still at research stage but plans drawn for a site at Parklands, next to racecourse. Newcastle firm Ryder Architecture involved. Drawings said to be v impressive, tho other locations also being explored. Parklands appears favourite, acc. to sources.— Craig Hope (@CraigHope_DM) July 5, 2022
It feels like most clubs will have even less English players next season. No sign at all of the numbers set to increase on this season. Might be even more no English players starting matches.
Flynn downes to West ham, sterling to Chelsea, Hudson odio to Newcastle.....i think alot of players who didn't get minutes last season will move and add to our starting quota. I think this season will be OK.
I think so too plus the five subs being introduced should see plenty of youngsters get more game time.
Archie Gray 'will play' this season says Jesse Marsch. Considers the 16-year-old a first team player. How often and how many minutes obviously depends but the youngster is in the plans.#lufc— Graham Smyth (@GrahamSmyth) July 7, 2022
He will be among the youngest pl players ever if he gets on in the league - he is not 17 until March. Most likely he will only appear in a cup match.
It's a clever way to counter the accusations of American favouritism he'll probably get from sections of the support.
Indeed looks like Tyler Dibling is leaving Southampton, as he's not named among their new scholars. https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/...otball-club-full-academy-scholarships-2022-23
