If the kid is still growing then just have to be very patient - if he has stopped growing then this could more of a cause for concern.
He's 19.5 years old. Almost zero chance he's still growing, especially considering he was an early bloomer. Most boys stop growing at 16 or so.
I know I can't prove it but the last game I saw him it looked like he was taller and thinner by a bit. 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. I mentioned something on here at the time but it looked like he went from 6-1 to 6-2
It is simply untrue the stop growing thing at 16. Most of it, but not all of it. https://www.chartsgraphsdiagrams.com/HealthCharts/growth-2-20-boys.html
I don't think so. Girls stop at around 15, boy at 18. Of course, there are few that continue to grow until 19 or so, like Parks. He was 5'4 at the age of 15. He ended up being close to 6'3 AND his brother is 5'9. My son just turned 14 this week and he is 5'9. Doc says he will probably end up at around 6'1 to 6'2. I'm 5'9, my wife is 5'5. There is no set rule just guesses
Are you guys July 4 hungover? I never said that all boys stop growing at 16. But most boys do--particularly early bloomers like Gio will stop growing at earlier ages. While some boys keep growing until 18 (somewhat rare), Gio is actually 19.5 years old. It would be highly, highly unusual for him to still be growing at 19.5 years old given he went through puberty years ago, at which point his growth plates fused. Your boy already being 5 foot 9 at 14 actually helps prove my point; he's going through his growth spurt during puberty. He will almost certainly finish growing in the next two years. See a link below. https://www.healthline.com/health/when-do-boys-stop-growing
Yes, but also irrelevant. A healthline article referencing a kidhealth article referencing nothing isn't a great link. Gio Reyna has grown after age 16.
There’s height growth and then muscular growth that continues no? Question would be how those interrelate for Gio if at all.
We probably don't need to generalize .... "in general most" from the below article ... https://www.healthline.com/health/when-do-boys-stop-growing#height-and-genetics here is an interesting one for you .... "Robinson was of average height for most of his childhood and teenage years, and stood only 5 ft 9 in (1.75 m) tall in his junior year of high school (age 16-17). But during his senior year (age 17-18) he experienced a large growth spurt and grew to 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m)." when he left the Naval Academy I think he was like 6'11". yes most boys should peak out at 16 or so .... but for many it is later and IF Gio has been going through that - it does take time for his muscles and all the rest to catch up. Plus he is not exactly in a profession that does not put substantial stress on his muscles and frame. Hence my comment about patience here.
I grew around an 1.5 inches right when I turned 19/20. I joined the Navy in March & went to boot in Sept. right at 6 months. I was 1.5 inches taller when medical measured me in boot.
Um well I’m 37 and recently had muscular growth since I got back into the gym so I don’t think anyone was discussing it.
So he didn’t grow at age 19.5? You realize this doesn’t actually support your argument? Also he’s the exact same height he was a year ago, so he’s not still growing.
Chris Richards went to Bayern at the age of 18 measuring 6'2. Four years later he is about an inch taller than M. Robinson and Zimmerman and both are listed at 6'2.
Okay man, just trust your intuition and random unconfirmed reports of Richards height instead of the various medical resources showing that growth at 19.5 years old is extremely rare especially for someone who started puberty early.
I,too, was growing when I was almost a year old. At 52 I’m slowly shrinking. Hopefully that won’t increase too much.
