Are we sure it's Salloi? PV has a history of letting contracts run down and then making a late offer. We also have to consider the relationship between the two. Uncle PV might take a "whatever is best for you, dear boy" attitude. Salloi's hungarian (EU) passport gives him a nice edge in negotiations. He has a a lot of options and there are a lot of clubs he could help. But, as we know, the negotiations in europe could have been underway for a week now, so it looks as if this is a "see what the market will bear" type of thing. the danger here is that Salloi as a free agent in MLS would have a lot of value, even if SKC can match contracts from the clubs over here who would sign him, there are MLS clubs who would DP him. St Louis might be one.
what is the rule on service time for free agency now? He’s been around a while but thought it was still a pretty high number of years to be eligible.
New CBA lowered the age. It's now 24 and 5 years of experience in the league qualifies for free agency.
I think Salloi is a smart kid and he has read the tea leaves. There is no upside future for him in KC. It will be just the same old thing and that means his future chances for a national team spot will also dwindle. He needs to go back to Europe and play closer to home.
I'm sure he's smart enough to see that SKC is a multi year rebuild before the team is competitive again. In his last national team callup, Salloi was brought in, never used, and sent home. That's not exactly a ringing endorsement from your national team coach. He needs a move to Europe if he wants to keep developing.
